Section 1

Windows to Go• Supports BYOD • Supported on any Mass Storage like

Flash Drives & External HDD• Certified Vendors like Kingston

Page 14: Windows 8 Introduction

Section 1

Direct Access• VPN like Technology i.e intranet

connectivity to client machines when connected to Internet.

• Traditonal VPN vs DirectAccess• DirectAccess establishes IPsec

tunnels from the client to the DirectAccess server, and uses IPv6 to reach intranet resources or other DirectAccess clients.

Section 1

BranchCache• Improves the overall performance of

BranchCache• Streamline Deployment & Maintenance using

polices.• Performance is improved in BranchCache by

reducing data transfer size requirements through cache encryption, using data de-duplication, and minimizing cache block sizes.

• The new database and storage technologies used with Windows 8 BranchCache make it more scalable, secure and faster.

the running the packaged app• The ability to control all the components

of the app with a single rule rather than controlling individual binaries within the app

• The ability to create application control policies that survive application updates

• Management of packaged apps through Group Policy.

Section 5 – Lets Talk about Metro App or Modern UI

How to get Started?

“Its all about being Live”

Tools & Language Supports

Page 25: Windows 8 Introduction

Section 1

Its all about being “Live”• Visual differentiator :- Apps can generate the

dynamic feeds which can seen without even accessing the App.

• Metro Apps • Based on New Runtime• Improved Application Securtiy

• AppContainer – (Sandbox)• Write to only AppData Folder• New Intergity Level for Apps• The AppContainer integrity level blocks read and write access to

objects marked with a higher integrity level•  Vista and Windows 7 processes running with low integrity could

read objects marked with medium or high integrity, but were prevented from modifying them.

• The sandboxed environment provided by the AppContainer integrity level in Windows 8 will block interprocess communications, apart from some limited capabilities

• All Metro apps use the AppContainer sandbox except IE10, which runs with medium integrity.

Page 26: Windows 8 Introduction
