The power of the future of power

Pro: Free!Unlike other forms of electrical generation where fuel is shipped to a processing plant, wind energy generates electricity at the source of fuel, which is free. Wind is a native fuel that does not need to be mined or transported, taking two expensive costs out of long-term energy expenses.(http://www.windustry.org/pros_cons_wind_energy)

Pro: Saved moneySiemens also recently completed construction of the federal government’s largest wind farm at the Pantex Plantt in Amarillo, Texas. The wind farm’s five turbines will generate annual energy savings on average of $2.8 million and will supply more than 60 percent of the annual electricity required for Pantex.(http://www.usa.siemens.com/sustainable-energy/renewable-energy.html)

The cons 1Many people think wind turbines look ugly and unnatural and don’t want to fund or support a cleaner environment because of this, but what’s more ugly than pollution? Still, many opposers don’t like how they look. Even politicians are taking a stand against them, going as far as to ban them sometimes. The cons 2Birds and other flying animals tend to kamikaze these turbines sometimes, damaging the equipment and also the birds. Aprox. 10,000 – 40,000 per year. It doesn’t happen often but when it does it costs a lot to fix.
