IHI has started to work in Brasil since1950’s, as one of the first Japanese firms.

IHI’s achievements include establishing Shipyard “Ishikawajima do Brasil Estaleiros S.A (known as

“ISHIBRAS”) with the Brazilian Government in Rio de Janeiro in 1959.

1959 Established ISHIBRAS in a joint venture in Brazil

1961 Delivered the first ship

1974 Inauguration of the Dock(400,000 t )

1976 Received order of Hot Sprit Mill for CSN with IHI

1978 Delivered the tanker (277,000 t)

1987 Delivered the Ore Oil Tanker (300,000 t)

・The biggest shipyard in the southern hemisphere, and the only VLCC construction shipyard in Brazil.

・3 oil tankers have been delivered, 20 Tanker ships and 7 Drill ships have been listed in order book.
