The symmetry SSU5000 is SR Telecom’s WiMAX subscriber station (SS). It incorporates the 802.16-2004 WiMAX radio interface, and transports layer 2 and layer 3 IP traffic transparently between an end-user’s network and the operator’s data network.

The SSU5000 consists of a weatherproof outdoor unit that houses the transceiver and antenna to maximize radio performance, and an indoor Break-out Box (BOB) that provides a 10/100Base-T port for subscriber’s IP networking devices.

Subscribers can connect multiple IP devices (such as routers, LAN switches or VoIP equipment like IP Phones and PBX, or Residential SIP/H.323 analog gateways) to the SSU5000. Alternately, by connecting an external switch to the SSU5000, operators can provide separate services to multiple subscribers for MDU/MTU applications.
