community notes1. Maxwell Youth BasketballThe Maxwell Parks & Recreation will be hosting Basketball Signups for children aged from kindergarten through the sixth grade. The cost is $20 for a participant without new jersey, and $40 for participant with a new jersey needed. Signups will be held on Thursday, September 3 at the Maxwell Fire Department from 5PM to 7PM. An additional signup will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Maxwell Elementary School. For more information, contact Kyle Miller at (530) 491-1007.

2. Colusa Senior SwimThe Colusa City Pool has begun offering Senior Swim, Monday through Friday from NOON to 1:00 PM. The cost is $1 per day, for seniors aged 55 or older and available until the pool closes for the summer. Senior Swim is made possible by the City of Colusa, Jenny Lay and Mike Acosta. 3. Colusa County Rugby Football Club Luau 2015

The Colusa County Rugby Football Club will host its annual Luau on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from 6PM to 12 AM at the Colusa VFW Hall (Bridge & E. Main Street) in Colusa. Come celebrate with the CCRFC, 2015 USA Rugby Pacific North Champions and 2015 California Cup State Champions. The cost is $50 a person – includes: a Hawaiian dinner, entertainment and more. A raffle and auction will also be available. All proceeds will benefit the CCRFC, a 501 (c)(3). For tickets see Tina Beckley at Tri Counties Bank in Colusa or call: Cody Beckley (530) 216-7504. 4. Colusa Beta SIgma Pi Multi Family Rummage Sale

The Colusa Torchbearer Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will hold their annual multifamily rummage sale on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Senior Center at 901 Parkhill Street, Colusa. Members will have furniture, clothing and shoes, jewelry, household items, books and miscellaneous items available at excellent prices. Proceeds from the sale benefit various community service projects of this sorority.

5. Community 4H MeetingThe Colusa 4H Club will hold their first community/project meeting on Monday, August 31st, at 7:00 pm, at St. Bernadette’s Hall, 745 Ware Avenue, in Colusa. All returning members and their parents are urged to attend – in addition to all project leaders. New members are always welcome. The group will discuss how Colusa 4-H will run this coming year, and break out into project groups. The community/

project meeting will count as a project and community meeting. For more information contact Devin Kelley at (530) 458-4181.

6. Colusa Adult CanteenThe Colusa Ault Canteen is a bi-monthly luncheon held every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month, from NOON to 1:30 PM. The Adult Canteen is open to all Seniors, 60 years of age or older and held at the United Methodist Church’s, Friendship Hall, 511 Oak Street, in Colusa. Come enjoy an event just for the seniors in our community – promoting an active lifestyle and an opportunity to socialize with friends and discuss topics over a Pot Luck style lunch with the main course being provided. The cost is $2.00 with a side dish, and $4.00 without. For more information, contact Michael Acosta, Senior Luncheon Coordinator by calling (530) 458-4941 ext. 108.

7. Bowling 4 BoobsOn Saturday, October 17, 2015, the Colusa County Breast Cancer Fund will host its annual Bowling 4 Boobs Fundraiser. This year's theme is "Boobs, Bowling, and Boogie Time". The cost is $25 per person or $100 per team. Sponsors are welcomed and costumes and creative team names are encouraged. Prizes will be awarded for best costume, team name and much more. Have fun at the photo booth and bowling with friends supporting a great cause. The event will be held at Riverside Lanes in Colusa, starting at 4:00 PM. 8. Firefighter FundraiserThe Williams Volunteer Firefighters are working to restore #1 Fire Engine and are seeking donations to complete the task. Here is your chance to win a Limited Edition, California – American Farmer Rifle (Marlin 45/70). Only 100 tickets will be sold at $100 per ticket. Purchase a ticket and get a numbered Williams Fire Challenge Coin. Drawing to be held when all tickets are sold. 9. Volunteers Needed to Help with Senior Nutrition

The Colusa County Health and Human Services is seeking Volunteers for the Senior Nutrition Program. Please come help serve lunch on any day, Monday through Friday, from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the Colusa Scout Cabin (901 Parkhill Street). Pick a day, and bring a friend!
