Interdisciplinary Project: Develop Historical GIS Map of Córdoba, Spain

• Interdisciplinary Teams

• Each team assigned a particular period

• Sites selected in spring seminar

• Maps developed in spring seminar

• Web pages developed in Spain

Goals:• learn background material on the history and culture of

southern Spain

• learn about digital mapping and Geographical Information Systems

• acquire skills in modifying digital maps and creating web pages

• develop a team proposal and plan for further research in Spain

• Lectures and tutorials – Introduction, what is GIS, examples– Attribute Table, Selection, New Shapefiles

and Layers– Map projections, Coordinate systems– Scale, Metadata
