2020 Member Event Introductory
2020 is shaping up to be a year full of great golf and fun! If all you want to do is golf, all
you want to do is here. We are scheduled to have all kinds of events that can be fun for all! We
will host golf competitions for all varying ages and skills, so who is ready to play?
There have been several improvements to the facilities since 2017, with the cost
exceeding close to $600,000. The greens were converted from the aging bent grass to the
fantastic Champion Ultra Dwarf Bermuda. The roofs were replaced on the range building and the
on-course bathroom facility. The windows as well as the front doors were replaced in the
clubhouse. The steps to the back patio of the clubhouse and the front steps from the parking lot
were repaired. Several tee-boxes on the course were sodded and over 100 trees were removed to
help with sunlight for turf growth. Irrigation improvements were made all over the course and
the clubhouse grounds which will help tremendously in dry times of the year. A new practice
putting green was installed behind the driving range and improvements to the landscape were
made around the clubhouse and throughout the course. The renovations did not stop there. Last
year, 2019, we started on our cart path improvement plan. We also started replacing and
installing railroad ties and upgrading the facility with new landscaping and individual irrigation
heads. As you can see there is a lot of work going on at Wildwood Green in order to improve our
services and the experience of being a member!
We have many popular events scheduled this year which include a Ryder Cup event,
Masters Par 3 Contest, Drive Chip Putt, 18-hole and 9-hole Couples Events, PGA Pools, and so
much more. We hope everyone enjoys our robust member events schedule this year! See page(s)
7-8 on information regarding tournaments, handicapping, flighting, and handicap allowances to
be sure you are well informed about how we execute our events.
Thank you so much for being a member at Wildwood Green Golf Club and please help us
by continuing to fill out comment cards. Let us know how we can continue to improve our
events!

Tournament Information, Flighting Information, & Regulations
Wildwood Green will post all scores for events. Competition Tees: Each competitor’s set of tees to be played will be assigned to the competitor based on the set of tees most commonly played from in their most recent handicap revision. In the event other courses have been played, the staff will assign a tee based on the other course’s rating closest to that of a set of tees at Wildwood Green. Event Flighting: Events will be flighted in the Spring & Fall Member-Member events, the Tournament of Champions event, and the Club Championship. For other club events flights will depend on field size. When there are 15 or more teams (30+ competitors) flights will be created and broken down as evenly as possible.
Flight Basis: Flights will be created by the lower handicap index of the team using the 12 month low handicap index of the individual as of the day of the signup deadline. Handicap Indexes: The handicap index used for the event competitor will be the handicap index of each person on the day of the event signup deadline. Gross Payouts – Gross will only be paid out in Flight 1 of a flighted event. Handicap Allowances: *Please see the attached Appendix C document from the USGA regarding handicap allowances* Net handicaps when playing your own ball with a partner(s) will be reduced by 10% or 5% depending on your gender. 90% of the course handicap will be used for male competitors and 95% of the course handicap will be used for female competitors.
During net events where competitors play their own ball, if the difference between the two teammates’ course handicap is more than 8 strokes after the 10% or 5% allowance, we will subtract an additional 10% from both players.
50% of the male competitor’s course handicap will be used and 55% of the female’s course handicap will be used in a Texas Scramble format.
10% of the combined team course handicap will be used in an 18 Hole Scramble format.
5% of the combined team course handicap will be used in a 9 Hole Scramble format.
During match play events, each competitor will receive 100% of their course handicap and then the low course handicap will play as a zero and the higher course handicap will receive the difference in strokes.
8
Appendix C: Handicap Allowances
Handicap allowances are designed to provide equity for players of all levels of ability in each format of play, over both 9 holes and 18 holes. Handicap allowances are applied to the Course Handicap as the final step in calculating a player’s Playing Handicap (see Rule 6.1 Course Handicap Calculation and Rule 6.2 Playing Handicap Calculation).
The National Association is responsible for establishing handicap allowances or it can delegate this responsibility to a Regional Golf Association or golf club.
The following table sets out the recommended handicap allowances based on medium-sized field net events. The allowances may be adjusted based on field size and the desired equity (see Interpretation C/1 ):
Format of Play Type of Round Recommended Handicap Allowance
Stroke play
Individual 95%
Individual Stableford 95%
Individual Par/Bogey 95%
Individual Maximum Score 95%
Four-Ball 85%
Four-Ball Stableford 85%
Four-Ball Par/Bogey 90%
Match Play
Individual 100%
Four-Ball 90%
Other
Foursomes 50% of combined team handicap
Greensomes 60% low handicap + 40% high handicap
Pinehurst/Chapman 60% low handicap + 40% high handicap
Best 1 of 4 stroke play 75%
Best 2 of 4 stroke play 85%
Best 3 of 4 stroke play 100%
All 4 of 4 stroke play 100%
Scramble (4 players) 25%/20%/15%/10%
from lowest to highest handicap
Scramble (2 players) 35% low/15% high
Total score of 2 match play 100%
Best 1 of 4 Par/Bogey 75%
Best 2 of 4 Par/Bogey 80%
Best 3 of 4 Par/Bogey 90%
4 of 4 Par/Bogey 100%
Unless otherwise specified by the Committee, players with a ‘plus’ Playing Handicap give strokes back to the course, beginning at the hole with stroke index 18. For example, a player with a Playing Handicap of +2 would give strokes back to the course at the holes with stroke index 18 and 17. When handicap allowances are applied, a player with a plus Playing Handicap moves up towards zero including rounding. This is to maintain the same relative difference between Playing Handicaps.

Social Events
We have many social events planned this year. Our goal is to eventually become a private
golf club so we are going to host more social events while working towards our goal. The most
popular social event we hold year after year is our poker nights which are scheduled throughout
the fall and winter months. With golf and social events scheduled year-round your enjoyment at
the club never ends! If there are any social events that you would like to see added to our event
schedule, please fill out a comment card with your requests. More information about a few of
these special social events can be found below.
Poker Night: The game of Texas Hold ‘Em is played at all of our scheduled poker
nights. The participants will be the dealers for the games throughout the evening. Food and
drinks are not included in the entry fee but will be available to purchase throughout the night.
Member Holiday Party: Why just spend the holidays with family, when you can rejoice
with your club family as well? The Member Holiday Party is the perfect scene to have fun and
fellowship during the holiday season. This night will not be silent as we listen to Christmas
songs and have some laughs! Secret Santa will also be played during the night as well as door
prizes being handed out. Drink specials will be offered and food will be included with the event!
Cookouts: Can you name anything better than hanging out with good friends, sharing
laughs, and enjoying a delicious Champions Grille burger or hotdog? Neither can I! Cookouts
will be hosted by Champions Grille to give you all the opportunity to fellowship with one
another and have a great time. Don’t miss out on all the fun!
Couples Golf
We host our Couples Golf events throughout the Fall, Spring and Summer seasons. These 9-hole
golf events are always a fun way to meet other couples at the club. We have had incredible
participation over the past few years and it seems that every year the participation grows and it
has turned into our most popular 9-hole competition. Our couple’s events are held Sunday
evenings and then followed by a delicious dinner either provided by Champions Grill or catered.
This year we have included an 18-hole couples Member-Guest to kick off the season!
The format for most of our couple events is a four-person team, net captain’s choice. Two
couples will be paired together and a percentage of their team handicap is factored in to get their
final net score. During the golf tournament we host proximity games for both men and women
and prizes will be available for each. Spouses who do not play golf are welcome to join us for
dinner after play for a small fee. We hope to see all the couples out at these events this year!
11
Master’s Par 3 Contest
To kick off Masters Week, we will be holding our very own Par 3 Contest! Nine holes
will be set up to play as par 3s. Compete against others to be crowned our Par 3 Champion! Open
to all active members, small entry fee, and a chance to win gift cards and other prizes. Closest to
the pin prizes will also be awarded. Mark your calendars today!
Drive, Chip, and Putt
Please join us for our first annual Drive, Chip, and Putt contest! Have you ever wondered how
your golf skills compare to your peers and fellow members? Now you have a chance to earn
some bragging rights and some shop credit! Open to all active members. Come should us how
well you can drive, chip, and putt.
2020 Major Events Spring Member-Member
Friday, May 1st – Sunday, May 3
rd
Wildwood Green will kick off the 2020 Majors with the Spring
Member-Member. This is a two-person team event with a format of 1
gross plus 1 net. Flights will be determined by the low player’s 12-
month low handicap index. Teams can be made up of either men or
women or a mixture of both. Course handicaps will be calculated based
on the tee color played by each golfer. To accompany the
championship matches there will be an optional team skins game and
hat pool offered for the weekend.
This first Major of the year is always a great value as the event
features a Friday night pairings party, two days of competition,
proximity games, breakfast and lunch both days. and an awards
ceremony on Sunday afternoon. Be sure not to miss out on this exciting
team competition and mark the date on your calendar now!

Ryder Cup Annual Event
Friday, June 26th
– Sunday, June 28th
For the third year in a row, we will be hosting a Ryder Cup style golf tournament. The
Ryder Cup is a 36-hole match play event which features two days of competition. This event will
consist of 4 different matches played throughout the two days and 4 separate 9-hole competitions
occur with players accumulating points for their team by winning or tying their match. The team
with the most points after the completion of the four matches wins! The event will be open to the
first 32 players who sign up. The two, 16 person teams will be created by the golf shop based on
the player’s low 12-month handicap indexes. Don’t miss out on this extraordinary event!
Club Championship
Saturday & Sunday, August 1st and 2
nd
The most prestigious title at Wildwood
Green has to be the title of Club Champion. This
two-day stroke play competition, which sees the
club’s best golfers, will undoubtedly see great scores
again in 2020. The Club Championship will be
flighted by age and then by handicap. Flight size is
solely dependent on how many people sign up in the
age division. No handicap will be used in
competition and men and women will compete in
separate flights.
We will also host a net division Club
Championship and anyone who has a GHIN
handicap is allowed to compete in the net division.
The net division will not be broken down into flights instead
it will be created with one flight. Everyone playing in the net
division will use a percentage of their course handicap. The
difference in tee ratings will be factored in to the handicaps
however, to be crowned the overall men’s or women’s
champion, you must play from the blue tee markers and the
red tee markers respectively and in the gross division

Fall Member-Member
Friday, October 23rd
- Sunday, October 25th
Our highly anticipated and most popular event will be held at the
end of October. The format for the Fall Member-Member is five, nine-hole
match play matches. There will be three matches played Saturday and two
matches played on Sunday. Teams can be made up of either men or
women or a mixture of both. The two-person teams will be flighted
according to the average of the low handicap index for each player and
each flight will have a max of 6, two person teams.
Each person will play their own ball for each hole. The lowest net
score on each hole will win between the two teams. One point is available
on each hole and one point for winning the match (10 points per nine
holes). Holes may be halved and a 9-hole match may end in a tie at 5
points for each team. The team with the most points after the five
matches, from each flight, will compete in a sudden death playoff for
the title of Overall Member-Member Champion. Also, just like the
Spring Member-Member, we will offer a hat pool. Be sure to grab
your partner and sign up early as this event always fills up quickly!
Carolinas Golf Association & Carolinas Professional Golf Association Events
The Carolinas are home to hundreds of golf tournaments each year that appeal to a wide
range of skill levels. The CGA administers its own calendar of championships, considered one of
the strongest tournament programs in the country, as well as USGA qualifiers for national
events.
Whether you're a scratch golfer looking to qualify for the U.S. Open or Carolinas
Amateur Championship, or a mid-level handicap wanting to participate in one of the CGA's
individual or team events, there is an opportunity for you to play. These events are open to
members of CGA Member Clubs who have up-to-date CGA/USGA handicap indexes.
The CGA annually conducts 48 championships and five team match competitions for
men, women, juniors, and seniors. Please note that you are a member of the CGA with your paid
GHIN handicap at Wildwood Green Golf Club.
The CGA conducts over 100 One-Day tournaments that are open to both men and women
with a CGA membership and an up-to-date CGA/USGA handicap index from a CGA member

50/50 Weekly Member Raffle
We will host a 50/50 weekly member raffle in order to help raise money for
improvements around the Wildwood Green facility. Improvements will be determined from
customer comment cards and what is feasible for the club to accomplish.
The drawing will occur at 4:00 PM each Friday throughout the year. There is one poker
chip per membership in the bowl and each membership has been assigned a number which
corresponds to what is written on the poker chip. Poker chips are placed into the bowl and a
member will draw one chip from the bowl. (Participants must pay their $5 entry each week to
be eligible to win.) Each Friday when the chip is drawn, we will check the number on the chip
and then find out which membership that corresponds with. If the membership has paid their $5
entry for that week, they win 50% of the pool. Each week Wildwood Green will take 50% of the
entries. (If the membership did not pay their entry that week and no winner is determined
for the week and the money carries over to the next week.) Members have the option to
prepay their $5 for the year if they would like.
With almost two years under our belt hosting the 50/50 raffle (first drawing was February
9th, 2018) we have raised a total of $31,985 from our members. Out of this total we have paid
out $16,192.50 in winnings. In 2019 we added benches throughout the course and we installed an
ice-water machine at the half way house. That machine was brought inside for the winter (to
avoid the lines freezing). Our plans are to keep the ice-water machine installed in Champions
Grille and purchase an additional one for the halfway house this spring. This means you will
have easy access to tasty ice-water when you are at both the halfway house and the clubhouse.
Keep entering each week and help us improve the facility...you might be another lucky one who
takes home thousands of dollars!

2020 PGA Tour Major Event Pools
Every year we host Major Championship Pools at Wildwood Green in conjunction with
the PGA Tour’s major events. These individual net challenges will begin two weeks before the
Major Championship’s first round and payout will be in Wildwood Green gift cards. The final
opportunity to enter the challenges will be on the Saturday (third round) of the major event at
12:00 PM noon. You may enter as many times as you want before the cut off!
Rules and Information
Entry: $5 - Members may enter as many times as they like (paying $5 for each entry) from two
Saturday’s before the major event’s first round until Saturday of the major event at noon – A
USGA recognized handicap is required for participation.
Format: Participants will use a 10% reduction handicap and will turn in their attested scorecard
to the golf shop following their round. Members who enter the pool must have an established
USGA recognized handicap. The net score of the participant will then be added to a
professional's (chosen by blind draw) third and fourth round scores. The winners will be
determined by the low 54-hole score and payout will be in Wildwood Green gift cards.
The remaining purse will be paid out in Wildwood Green gift cards as follows:
1st Place - 40% Blind Draw Winner - 10%
2nd Place - 30% PGA Event Winner - 10%
