Wildlife Walkway On the 1/4 mile Wildlife Walkway Loop, soothing waterfalls greet you along the trail as you enjoy carefully kept educational exhibits. Along the Loop you will see several different species of smaller animals. Halfway through the Loop you will delight in the antics of our charming bear cubs! Some enclosure displays are purposely vacant for animal rotations and habitat restoration. Shuttle service is available for guests with mobility concerns. Bear Country U.S.A. Information The Bear’s Den This remarkable 6,000 square foot gift shop is one of the most unique in the Black Hills. Many wildlife treasures and gifts are available to visitors who love animals, nature and the great outdoors. Groups, Tours, & Guide Information • “Group” must be designated and identifiable, and must include at least fifteen people. • Children under the age of five in a private family vehicle are admitted free. • Step-on guides are available without charge for a motorcoach, and with a 24-hour advance notice of arrival. Approximate tour time: 2 hours. Special motorcoach parking with clear access to exit is available. • Special rates are available for professional photographers and artists. Since 1972 visitors have enjoyed a leisurely drive through this unique and spectacular wildlife park. Bear Country U.S.A. features many species of North American animals, including the largest privately owned collection of American Black Bear. Bear Country U.S.A. is typically open from late April to late November. Our peak season is June, July & August when we are open every day. Please see current hours on our our website. We welcome everyone, from couples to families. If you have a larger pack, we offer group rates as well as party and picnic facilities. Motorcoach rates and step-on guides are also available. Should you develop car trouble, do not attempt to leave your vehicle. Turn on your hazard lights and sound your horn to summon assistance. Commercial rights to all photographs remain the property of Bear Country U.S.A. No pets around Wildlife Walkway Loop. Do not reach selfie sticks inside animal pens. Keep an eye out for our neighbors! Magpies historically followed the bison herds, but now land on the backs of cattle to clean off ticks and insects. They scavenge on kills from predators like coyotes. They also walk on the ground to eat insects, worms and small rodents.
