Science Fair
WWA will be holding this year’s school science fair on Tuesday, November 27th and all students grades 1st-8th have been invited to participate! Hands-on scientific investigation is the focus for the
science fair. All projects will be based around two of our Core Knowledge Themes: Physical Sciences (magnetism, light and optics, sound, electricity, energy, physics, matter and properties of
matter, chemistry, and simple machines) or Botany and Zoology (living things, ecology, plants and plant growth, animals and their needs, insects, classification, and evolution). Kindergarten students are welcome to show what they know, though they will not be judged in the fair. Each student that participates will be charged with creating a display that illustrates knowledge of one of these Core Knowledge Themes. This includes a description of their project (1st-3rd) or an illustration of the scientific method as it relates to their experiment (4th-8th). If your child is interested in participating, please fill out the student registration form on line. This can be accessed from the main WWA page, or if you CLICK HERE. You can also get a paper copy from the front desk, which can be handed in to your child’s teacher. Those who have submitted their intent to participate will be sent a packet with further information via e-mail after they register. This will include a pacing timeline, specific guidelines, and further information to get your child started. If you have any questions, feel free to email Jackie Uttley at [email protected].
