RECONDO
RECONDO Company conducts RECONDO Indoctrination Program (RIP) Week - Candidates are
evaluated in 6 different events that test their physical and mental strengths. Event examples are
Ranger Physical Fitness Test, Written Exam, Ruck March, and Land Navigation. At the end of the
week, only candidates who pass all 6 events are given the title of "RECONDO Instructor." This se-
mester Cadets Weiner, Vitols, Rodman, Padgett, Neal, and Happy participated in RIP. Cadets Vi-
tols, Happy, and Weiner passed all 6 events and are now 3 of 11 RECONDO Instructors in the KSU
Army ROTC program.

November Labs
48 Fallen 48 Found
Cadets are instructed on Basic Rifle Marksmanship and Weapons Familiarization to prepare them for
Advanced Camp and marksmanship qualification. Cadets received hands on training with the M4 rifle, the
M240 Medium Machine Gun and the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon.
Additionally, this month Cadets received information that will benefit them throughout their Army career.
Mr. Scott Dietrich of the KSU Kinesiology Department demonstrated proper stretching and recovery methods.
Representatives from the Fort Riley Wellness Center taught a class on nutrition and hydration. Instructors
also demonstrated proper weighting lifting techniques and tips for APFT preparation. Overall this lab
equipped Cadets with an understanding of how to adequately take care of their bodies through various
methods.
Historian, Jed Dunham, a former student-athlete at Kansas State University spoke to Cadets and told the
story of the 48 Fallen 48 Found. This project began with Mr. Dunham’s return visit 3 years ago to K-
State Memorial Stadium. It has since developed into the remarkable project, 48 Fallen 48 Found, to
honor World War I Veterans from Kansas State University. He has traveled across the United States
visiting the graves of these brave men and continues to share their stories and a part of history that was
once forgotten.

The Wildcat Battalion supported the Veterans Day Parade in Manhattan Kansas. This parade is the State’s
largest celebration of service. It is sponsored by the Flint Hills Veterans Coalition who work in partnership
with KSU ROTC, Fort Riley, the USO, and many other organizations to showcase the parade and show
support and remembrance to our Veterans. This year was the 25th Annual Parade and the 100th Anniversary
of the Big Red One. This was a great event for the community and the Wildcat Battalion to be a part of.
