‘These are the ultimate Kawartha summer shoes’
Living in the Kawarthas means that we are lucky to be surrounded by a great many lakes, rivers, beaches and good old cottage living!
Hopping in and out of a canoe, shuttling around a stand-up paddle board, or kicking around the lake can create an interesting dilemma when it comes to your footwear. Shoes? Too hot. Sandals? Not enough protection. Flip Flops? Maybe for the beach.
How about a little of column A, a little of column B and the end result is something completely new. Is it a shoe? A sandal? A Shoandal? What the folks at Columbia came up with is the Drainmaker.
Take the comfort and protection of a shoe, with the all day, play in the water versatility of a sandal.
The Drainmaker is designed to, well, drain: drain water, keeping the shoe from getting that nasty soggy, clammy feeling that we all hate.
Wear it at the cottage, on the lake, in the river without switching out your shoes/sandal/watershoe combo. Even the outsole is designed to grip better on wet surfaces - helping you scramble up wet rocks or a slippery dock.
Wild Rock has the Drainmaker for Men and Women in stock and starting at $90 for the Drainmaker II, and $100 for the Powerdrain Cool.
Learn more about the Drainmaker here!

STAYHYDRATED
If you have shopped at Wild Rock lately you may have noticed that we have a pretty heavy offering of Osprey bags in the store.....
Osprey have been making top quality outdoor gear since way back in1974. It is their commitment to quality, great design, and the legendary reputation for backing their bags with the “All Mighty Guarantee” that has made Osprey the brand of choice for bags at Wild Rock.
For 2013 Wild Rock and Osprey have a great line-up of versatile, functional and stylish hydration packs for men and women.
The Osprey hydration line is packed full of features, a great fit, and the best bladder system on the market.
Hit the woods with all the water and storage space you need for your next cycling, hiking, or trail running adventure.
Osprey's Manta (Men's) and Mira (Woman's) Hydration packs are their most well spec'd and most voluminous offering. Designed as a day hiking and multi-sport pack this pack shines hiking or cycling with extra gear. Also of note is the Airspeed system offering a highly breathable suspended back panel. Includes the newest incarnation of their industry leading 3.0L hydraulics reservoir! Check out this video here for more info!
The Viper (M's) and Verve (W's) packs offer an excellent balance of features, weight and purchase price. Made with the same bomber construction you've come to love from Osprey now in fun bright colours too! We are stocking the 5 and 9 models designed to fit well hitting the trails for a short run/hike or going for a couple hour bike ride. The 2.0L (in the 5) and 3.0L (in the 9) Hydraulics reservoir is also included. There's a great video you can watch about this series here.
Osprey's premium mountain bike packs, the Raptor (M's) and Raven (W's), are packed with features. You can watch a great video overview here. A couple things to look out for over the Viper and Verve series are the Advanced Airscape harness, a secure fitting hipbelt with pockets, 3.0L hydraulics reservoir and a roll out tool sleeve!

BAG!
stand-up paddlingWell the ice is almost out this season and soon the lakes will be warming up! Thoughts of being out on the water are starting to come around again and SUP boarding is a great way to get out there! Weather you just want a playful board for around the cottage, have an urge to catch a wave, or you want to plan an overnight trip, we have a board for you!
Here are some of our boards to look for spring 2013!
Starboard Touring 12'6"x30"
The Touring model is your go to for speed and tracking. Featuring a displacement hull this model cuts through small chop and extends your waterline creating extra glide. Front and rear tie-downs offer built in options for gear attachment in the case of day or multi-day adventuring. The impact resistant wood deck is beautiful and Starboard added a UV protective layer to help keep it that way. Standing area is a 4mm square groove EVA foam that will help keep your feet happy on your longer paddles.
Wood $1999.99
Starboard Cruiser 12'6"x30"
Well, as the name implies, this is a cruiser! Fast on both smooth or windswept lakes. This is Starboards staple "all-rounder".
Wood $1999.99 Silver $1839.99
Starboard Blend 11'2"x30"
Starboard states that this board is "Paddleboarders' favorite for blending flat water and wave." As one of our best selling boards of 2012 it definitely has a following! This is our most playful of the bunch. Probably best suited for lighter paddlers in a flat-water sense or anyone looking for more of a surfy feeling. Fun!

"I love waking up early and jogging down by the river.
The millennium trail is perfectly accessible and
serene."- Janessa
Trent Bird/Nature Sanctuary trails have to be my favorite
area as it is close to town but you get immersed in forest very quickly. It is also dog
friendly. - Scott
"I run around Little Lake with Scott at lunch time. He's the
boss, so I do what he tells me."
- Noel"I generally run around my
neighbourhood, up and down Woodland Dr. It has lots of
hills, and its a perfect distance for a 5 km run. I'm
too lazy to drive anywhere to run - when I want to run, I
can't wait! I just have to go."- Jessica
