What is a wiki? The term "wiki" comes from a Hawaiian word meaning "quick." A wiki is an online resource that is easily editable by any user from any Internet browser. Wikis allow for cross-referencing outside links or other pages in the same wiki. Anyone can edit anyone else's work in a wiki. Wikis can be reverted back to previous edits. Wikis were created by Ward Cunninghamfor the Portland Pattern Repositoryin 1995. Web-based wikis can be created with free server-based software such as MediaWiki.Wikis in Plain English
