INTRODUCTIONMostly wires are using for power transmission

Wired Power Transmission makes more losses and

produce E-wastes.

WiTricity - To transfer electricity without wires

WiTricity can transfer electricity only to a limited

distance

What is WiTricity ???Transmission of electrical energy from one object to

another without the use of wires is called as WiTricity

(Wireless Electricity)

Fastest , High Efficient & Faultless Electric power

transmission method

Two resonant objects of same resonant frequency tend to

exchange energy efficiently

HISTORY

Nikola Telsa – Experimented in 1899

Enlighten 200 lamps at the distance of 40 km, Wirelessly !

Transfer 300kW power through 150kHz radio wave , But

failed.

RESEARCH AT ‘MIT’ Marine Soijacic and team from Massachusetts Institute of

Technology(MIT), who call their invention ‘WiTricity‘.

Experimented in 2007

RESONANCE COUPLING

Resonance is the tendency of a system to oscillate with

greater amplitude at some frequencies.

Near field wireless transmission of electrical energy between

two coils that are tuned to resonate  at the same frequency

11

INDUCTIVE COUPLING

Primary coil and secondary coils are not connected

Energy transfer is through mutual induction

Change in current flow through one wire induces a

voltage across the ends of the other wire through

electromagnetic induction.

LASER / MICROWAVE TRANSMISSION

Microwaves are widely used for point-to-point communications Laser waves used for far field power transfer without wiresHighly efficient technologyLine of sight is important factor

ExperimentThe experimental schema consist of two Self-resonant coils.

One coil (source coil) is coupled inductively to an oscillating circuit.

The other (device coil) is coupled inductively to a resistive load.

Self resonant coils rely on the interplay between distributed inductance

and distributed capacitance to achieve resonance.

BENEFITS OF WITRICITY

19/09/2014 witricity 20

1. More Convenient

2. More Reliable

3. More Eco Friendly

Page 21: Wi tricity

LIMITATIONS OF WITRICITY

1. The resonance condition should be satisfied and if any error exists, there is no possibility of power transfer.

2. If there is any possibility of Very Strong ferromagnetic material presence, then there may be a possibility of low power transfer due to radiation.
