WHY LUXEON® POWER LEDs?LAST LONGER THAN ANY OTHER CONVENTIONAL LIGHT SOURCE (UP TO 10 YEARS)LUXEON contains solid state technology made in the Silicon Valley. Unlike typical conventional light sources, LEDs do not dramatically burn out and cease to function. The lifetime of an LED will depend on drive conditions and assembly methods. LUXEON LED systems typically last for 50, 000 consecutive hours of operation.
REDUCED MAINTENANCE COSTS AND ENERGY COSTSSince LUXEON LEDs last at least 10 times longer than a typical light source, there is no need to replace the light source, thereby reducing or even eliminating ongoing maintenance costs and periodic relamping expenses. With LUXEON LEDs you can save up to 50% in energy costs versus traditional lighting.
VIVID SATURATED COLORSLUXEON LEDs require no fi lters to create colored light, resulting in deeper saturated colors without wasted light. Deep reds, greens, blues and other colors can be produced directly from this solid state source.
DIRECTED LIGHT FOR INCREASED SYSTEM EFFICIENCYLUXEON light sources are small, directional, pinpoints of light. This size and directionality result in highly controllable optical systems, resulting in no wasted light.
ROBUST, SOLID STATE LIGHTINGLUXEON high power light sources are solid state devices. There are no moving parts, nothing to break, rupture, shatter, leak or contaminate the environment.
GREEN TECHNOLOGYNo ultraviolet rays, infrared heat or mercury in the LUXEON LEDs, making it an environmentally friendly technology.

INTEGRATION LEVEL OF AN LED LIGHT ENGINELED Light Engines are available with different levels of integration. As you combine more components to an LED assembly, the level of integration increases. Below is a representation and explanation of the various Light Engine levels. Our current LED Light Engine product portfolio covers levels 2 to 6.

WHAT IS AN LED LIGHT ENGINE?
BENEFITS OF USING AN LED LIGHT ENGINE
• Enables quick designs
• Increases speed to market
• Allows for dynamic, vibrant and stylish designs
• Ideal for small to medium volume manufacturing
• Flexibility in product selection and confi gurations
• Perfect for prototyping, demonstrations and project specifi c opportunities
• Reduces fi xture development expenses by eliminating engineering and assembly costs
A Light Engine consists of single or multiple LUXEON® LEDs mounted on a metal core printed circuit board (MCPCB) in a variety of confi gurations. The assemblies may be available with or without connectors, optics, thermals and/or power solutions.
In most cases a Light Engine requires additional value-add and/or integration by a lighting OEM.
All required accessories such as power drivers, optical lenses and cables are also available. (FIGURE 1 illustrates the possible components of an LED Light Engine.)

DEFINE YOUR NEEDS
Determine your desired color scheme (single color or RGB), color (red, green, blue, amber, warm white, cool white) if single color is chosen, and form factor (linear, circular, MR Type).
S T E PSELECT YOUR LED LIGHT ENGINE
Select the desired LED Light Engine model for your application. Both the linear and circular Light Engines are available in multiple confi gurations.
PICK YOUR OPTIC
The type of optic you select will depend on the area you intend to light up and beam pattern desired. If you intend on lighting up a large area then a wider degree optic is suggested as opposed to creating a focused spot where a narrow optic is recommended. Most LED Light Engines come with optic holders and need additional optics to complete the Light Engine. Also note that some of the Light Engines do not require optics.
SELECT YOUR POWER SOURCE
Determine whether you would like to power your LED Light Engine using an off-line power supply (mains) or a low voltage solution. Low voltage power sources include batteries or step down transformers that supply between 12 to 30 Volts DC or 12 to 24 Volts AC.
CHOOSE YOUR ACCESSORIES
Dependent on the type and quantity of LED Light Engines chosen, additional cables and/or connectors may be required.
