Why I didn’t use certain images for my school magazine front cover

The reason I didn’t use this picture as my school magazine front cover is because of many reasons.Firstly the lighting. The lighting is very dark and it is difficult to see the people and also the writing on the balcony which were the main features of the image as it is supposed to focus on year 11 and sixth form students and because the text on the side of the balcony is about how to be a good student and part of the school community.Another reason I didn’t use this picture is because you cannot see all the text on the balcony and if you cannot read it there is no point having it there.Lastly you cannot really see what years the students are in. You cannot see the year 11 jumpers or what the sixth formers are wearing therefore they could be in lower school and their lanyards are hidden although they are trying to show them.

I didn’t use this picture as my school magazine front cover because it doesn’t really have a meaning to it.You can see that the sixth formers are getting along with the year 11 students and the year 11 girl is holding a book near to the sixth former therefore asking for her for help but it doesn’t really show success which is the main theme of my magazine.What is good about this is that you can clearly see what years the students are in; You can see the year 11 students are wearing the Year 11 jumpers and the Sixth formers are wearing smart clothes/business wear and have their lanyards on show.Overall this picture showed success in students getting on well other than success in work.

I didn’t use this picture as my school magazine front cover because once again it didn’t show success in work, it simply is a picture of 4 students walking down the stairs. I took it as an action shot as they were walking to capture the students true emotion in their school environment and their personal characteristics as they weren’t expecting the picture to be taken.Although it is a good picture as you can clearly see the years the students are in and it is photographed well, it just doesn’t have any meaning. The two year 11’s are holding books but it isn't clear why as although they're studying for exams, so are the sixth formers.It doesn’t show success in work once again.
