WHY AREN’T PEOPLE BUYING? Difficult to understand isn’t it? You believe you have done everything you feel you can do; you have a great brand, you have all the signage out, you’ve sent out brochures, developed a database of potential customers, and done a myriad of other things, but still people are not flocking to your store or website. Why don’t people want to buy? Well there are a number of reasons, some of which we will cover here. Lack of understanding about what you have to offer. If your product or service is relatively new, or if you have not clearly portrayed what it is, you may be missing out on a huge number of customers. Have a good look at your branding, and what message you are getting out there; you may be confusing people, and this creates a lack of understanding. If your product is really new, you may have to educate people about what it actually is They don't need what you are offering. Your potential customer may think they neither need nor want your product. If they are right, then you have not effectively targeted your correct market and you need to go back to the drawing board. If they are wrong, it is up to you as a salesperson for your company to convince them otherwise. Focus on the benefits of your product, how it will improve their life, make them more healthy, save them time, save them money etc. Read some good sales books if you don’t think you currently have the sales skills required. Lack of trust. Building good relationships with your potential customers is a vital component of business. What do you do to help create that good relationship? Are you viewed as the most knowledgeable person in your industry? Does your website have a physical address (PO Boxes on their own are slightly dubious). Do you have a secure server? Are you well known in your area and among the communities your potential customers come from? Do you have a money-back guarantee? These are just some of the things that help build trust with your potential customers. Your processes need to be hassle-free or people will just go where it is easier. Is your business easy to find? Are your opening hours convenient for your customers, or are they just convenient for you? Do you provide adequate customer service; and have you had independent advice on this? (it may not be what you think it is) Do you have a good website?
