Hello! Im Kim Bryden, a Digital Strategist and Experiential Marketer in Washington DC. Currently I am the Head of Social and Digital Strategy for a social- commerce startup, Treater. Previously, I was a Marketing & Community Relations Team Lead for Whole Foods Market. Hello! I’m Kim Bryden, a Digital Strategist and Experiential Marketer in

CHRONOLOGY With my marketing and event planning expertise, coupled with my fluency in Spanish, I got a job at Whole Foods Market as a Marketing & Community Relations Team Lead. Managing a team of 5 with a variety of positions, I revamped a store that’s sales had fallen flat and proceeded to be hand-picked to open a brand new Whole Foods Market in the heart of downtown DC. While working at Whole Foods, I also got my graduate degree from Georgetown in digital media management and analytics. I caught the tech bug and moved on from Whole Foods to work for a social-gifting startup. I took my experienced knowledge of social media, community management, merchandising, and operations from a brick-and-mortar establishment to an online “store” of Treats. I wanted to diversify my marketing ability by testing out my skills in both the offline and online world. I am now the Head of Social for Treater. I’m also a digital strategy consultant for YouTube; which has pushed my skill set to another level, a global level. My expertise is in social media strategy and customer experience but I am constantly striving to learn new tools. I am already well-versed in Adobe Creative Suite and I am now dabbling in coding — even attended a Rails Girls DC workshop! I have an insatiable curiosity and will always continue to grow and learn.

I built Whole Foods Market Foggy Bottom from the ground up. I developed its marketing strategy and community outreach program, along with managing a brand new team of 5 with a variety of positions.

EXPERIENCE

*At Whole Foods, a key part of developing strategic marketing campaigns is driving sales to different product teams whose store mix percentage is below average. I would assess with each department team leader different seasonal push items, items that were about to turn to shrink, or sale items each week to create product demonstrations and tasting events to increase sales and build basket size. For example, one of my events around Valentine's Day increased sales in a 2 hour time frame by $2,500 with a lift in customer count by 250 people per hour.

I created a comprehensive influencer and super fan strategy to maximize YouTube’s brand presence for Comedy Week. The goal was to engage these super fans to help promote Comedy Week through their social channels. By identifying super fans (active users, 30K+ subscribers, prominent Twitter following) we were able to start and maintain a conversation about Comedy Week.

I drove and doubled online communities for two Whole Foods Market stores, and aided in overall Mid-Atlantic digital strategy. I also grew Treater’s online presence to a cumulative (Facebook & Twitter) 6,000 fans in 6 months.

*What is the point of increasing your social following? Glad you asked! The importance of gaining fans on Facebook aids in the targeting you can apply to your promoted posts. It also helps your Edgerank score which increases your brand’s chance of showing up in your fans, and friends of fans, News Feeds. Having a following on both Facebook and Twitter allows for transparency in customer service and community management. Having an open dialogue with your customers on a consistent basis through these platforms assists in overall brand image. The ability to assess your most loyal “brand ambassadors” is easier through social (who is commenting, posting, retweeting).
