Dogo Art / Dogo Onsenart is an art festival held around Dogo Onsen, the center of Dogo hot spring town in Matsuyama. The first Onsenart was held in 2014 to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the Main Building of Dogo Onsen’s reestablishment and has continued as Dogo Art 2015, Dogo Art 2015, 2016, and Dogo Onsenart 2018. Dogo Art 2019/2020 will be held beginning May 30, 2019 through February 28, 2021.

Artist ・Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts・Professor of Fine Arts Department of Intermedia Art・Director of Gifu Prefectural Museum of Art・Chairperson of Social Contribution Committee of Japan Football Association・Born in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, in 1958・In 1984, he completed graduate school of Tokyo University of the Arts. In1982, he received the Grand Prix, the 3rd Japan Graphics Exhibition Award・Participated in Sydney Biennale in 1986・Participated in Venice Biennale in 1995・Participated in Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2003・Participated in Setouchi Triennale 2010・Roppongi Art Night, Artistic Director in 2013～2015・Received the Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts (Arts development category) in 2015・He is supervisor of "TURN" which began in Tokyo in 2015.

What a re the p rograms?

Dogo Onsen Honkan has entered a restoration process, beginning January of 2019. With the future in our sights, we hope to increase the number of interactions among the populace through art and have begun a two-year Dogo Art 2019/2020 under the direction of Katsuhiko Hibino to reestablish a [Dogo-likeness] that can be passed on through the generations. With this new endeavor, we’ve expanded the area of festivities not only to the center of Dogo but to Shonin-zaka area. The newly implemented “Establishing “Himitsujanai Kichi” and “Open Call Project” create a more interactive exhibit compared to the observative kind of the past; and an open atmosphere for locals, tourists, artist, visitors, persons with disabilities, the elderly, or to children through its open submissions.
