Martha • Joh 11:21-27 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord,
if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. (22) But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. (23) Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. (24) Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. (25) Jesus said unto her, I am THE RESURRECTION, and THE LIFE: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: (26) And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall NEVER DIE. Believest thou this? (27) She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

Mary • Joh 11:29-35 As soon as she heard that, she arose
quickly, and came unto him. (30) Now Jesus was not yet
come into the town, but was in that place where Martha
met him. (31) The Jews then which were with her in the
house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she
rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She
goeth unto the grave to weep there. (32) Then when
Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell
down AT HIS FEET, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst
been here, my brother had not died. (33) When Jesus
therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping
which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was
troubled, (34) And said, Where have ye laid him? They
said unto him, Lord, come and see. (35) Jesus wept.

Martha & Mary
• Jesus was moved by Mary’s tears
• Why was he not moved by Martha?
• It was because of the relationship she
had with him—one of intimacy where
she stayed at his feet and had a good
soil heart always ready to hear his
word

(3) Mary took a pound of ointment of pure liquid nard [a rare perfume] that was very expensive, and she POURED IT ON JESUS' FEET and wiped them with her hair. And the whole house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume – Martha served

• Luk 10:38-42 Now while they were on their way, it
occurred that Jesus entered a certain village, and a
woman named Martha received and welcomed Him
into her house. (39) And she had a sister named
Mary, who seated herself AT THE LORD'S FEET and was
listening to His teaching. (40) But Martha [overly
occupied and TOO BUSY] was distracted with much
serving; and she came up to Him and said, Lord, is it
nothing to You that my sister has left me to serve
alone? Tell her then to help me [to lend a hand and
do her part along with me]! (41) But the Lord replied
to her by saying, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and
troubled about many things; (42) There is need of
only one or but a few things. Mary has chosen the
good portion [that which is to her advantage], which
shall not be taken away from her.

Who Are You? Where is your life? • David & Jesus – One sits on the other’s throne (Luke 1:32)
• Joh 10:30-38 I and my Father are one. (31) Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. (32) Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? (33) The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. (34) Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? (35) If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; (36) Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
• Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

(3) Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. (4) Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked. (5) They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. (6) I have said, YE ARE GODS; and all of you are children of the most High. (7) But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. (8) Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

(3) Even so we, when we were children (nepios), were in bondage under the elements of the world: (4) But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son (uihos), made of a woman, made under the law, (5) To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons (uihothesia). (6) And because ye are sons (uihos), God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son(uihos) into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Luk 12:42-48 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful steward, the wise man whom his master will set over those in his household service to supply them their allowance of food at the appointed time? (43) Blessed (happy and to be envied) is that servant whom his master finds so doing when he arrives. (44) Truly I tell you, he will set him in charge over all his possessions. (45) But if that servant says in his heart, My master is late in coming, and begins to strike the menservants and the maids and to eat and drink and get drunk, (46) The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour of which he does not know, and will punish him and cut him off and assign his lot with the unfaithful. (47) And that servant who knew his master's will but did not get ready or act as he would wish him to act shall be beaten with many [lashes]. (48) But he who did not know and did things worthy of a beating shall be beaten with few [lashes]. For everyone to whom much is given, of him shall much be required; and of him to whom men entrust much, they will require and demand all the more. [Num. 15:29, 30; Deut. 25:2, 3.]
