Who are these men they call “Knights”?
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.6 million
members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church,
their communities, families and young people.
Membership benefits
As a member of the Knights of Columbus you and your family enjoy many benefits, including 12 free issues
annually of the Columbia magazine, the world's largest Catholic family magazine, eligibility to join the Knights
of Columbus top-ranked life insurance program, and many more family and personal benefits.
As a Knight in Council 802 you will have many opportunities and benefits such as: Advancing the ministry of
our Church through faith activities like RCIA, LOYOLA, BIBLE STUDY and ADORATION; Becoming
involved in youth activities at St. Patrick School, our Parish School of Religion (PSR) classes and Boy Scouts
of America to name a few; Community activities such as monthly visitation with residents at East Mississippi
State Hospital or participating in Prison Ministry; Volunteering at KofC Bingo where we raise money to support
numerous charities and provide assistance and support to our Meridian Catholic Community; Participating in
our many Council and Family activities offering camaraderie with fellow Catholics during picnics and family
nights which usually include lots of food and games for the kids!
The more our Council and faith community grows, the better prepared we will be to lovingly and courageously
face any challenge!
Yes, becoming a Knight means giving your TIME.
“TIME is our most precious treasure because it is LIMITED. We can produce more wealth, but we cannot
produce more time. When we give someone our TIME, we actually give a portion of our life that we will never
get back. Our TIME is our life! The best present that you can give to your family and friends is your TIME.
May God grant you plenty of TIME, and may you have the wisdom to give it away so that you can LIVE,
LOVE, and DIE in peace.”
How to join
Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who
are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the
precepts of the Church. Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus.
If you’re interested in helping those in need, serving the Meridian Catholic Community, growing in faith or
having exclusive access to top-rated insurance protection for our family, then the Knights of Columbus is the
