Alternative Camera ClubSaturday 21st August10.30am - 1.00pm, £3

Second installment of our new photographic event. The Alternative Camera Club is a monthly programme of lectures and critique discussions co-curated by Mark Page of Manchester Photography.

This month includes a presentation from Manchester based documentary photographer David Dunnico. A�er David’s talk you are invited to show any photographs you have been working on and take part in a group discussion and critique. The best images form each session will be show-cased on a monthly online exhibition.

The Alternative Camera Club is championing a more considered, conceptual approach to photography, so why not come along with some images or simply ideas and get involved...

Crafternoon TeaSaturday 21st August2.00pm - 4.00pm, £3

Join Stewart Kelly, an artist based in Manchester and member of Bankley studios in Levenshulme. His creative practice currently spans the mediums of drawing, print and stitched textiles. Stewart is a quali�ed teacher and works in health and education as an artist and tutor.

During this workshop you will produce a textile postcard. Using textiles from gallery as inspiration to produce a simple design. The design will then be interpreted using fabric collage and embellished with hand embroidery.

This is a fantastic workshop for all abilities so why not grab a cuppa and get creative!

Wallpaper Dancers23rd - 30th August , FreeAn exciting new project speci�cally for the Whitworth Gallery. Choreographer Gerry Turvey and Artist Lynette Willoughby will be in the gallery from Aug 19- Aug 30. The project will culminate in live performances. The project will be open to the public to view the artists and dancers working in the space, and in addition the following events will take place.

Events

Rehearsals 23-28 Aug open to the public, 11am-5pm

Walkabouts/lunchtime ‘recitals’ 23-26 Aug 1.15pm. Meet in the foyer and have a guided tour of the wallpaper exhibition by the dancers. FREE (max 20 people)

Open dance/yoga classes 23-27 Aug 10-11am in the gallery…some previous dance experience useful. Artists who wish to draw are also welcome at this time. Please bring own materials.
