Support your PTO & Help theMonarchs & Bees in your Garden!

Go to http://tinyurl.com/wcwo2018to pre-order kits and other nativeplants by May 20.

WCWO will donate $8 for each kit purchased to Whittier PTO. Plant pick-up is Sat. JUNE 2, 10am-2pm in the Euclid Methodist Church parking lot, 405 S Euclid in Oak Park. More plants and kits will be for sale that day.

Each kit contains 10 plants. Monarch Garden Kit costs $35, and the Sunny Save-A-Bee and Shade kits cost $40, which is less than plants purchased separately. They provide all that Monarch caterpillars and adults, and bees and others need to grow up happily. See the website for plant photos and growing tips and to buy other plants too.

WCWO is a local non-profit promoting ecologically friendly landscaping and environmental education.

The Easy Garden Kits from West Cook Wild Ones (WCWO) will let you create a garden that attracts Monarchs and other butterflies and provides food for native bees and many wonderful creatures.

HOW does it work? Add a kit to your online cart on the website. Click on Cart, then put the name of your school in the box at lower left. After June 2, the schools will get $8 per kit. Open to parents, neighbors, or anyone! Contact [email protected] with questions.

Whittier Talent Show – Frequently Asked Questions Can my child participate? Any interested student may participate as this is a showcase and not a competition. All participants must return a signed permission slip in order to perform. When do the students practice? Talent show practices (where participants come to show the coordinators their acts and revisions) will take place during the recess portion of the lunch hour on some Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Participants will not need to come to rehearsal every session, and will be given a return date by the coordinators based on progress made. A reminder slip with the scheduled return date will be given out. Note: The talent show coordinators are responsible for helping students progress with their act and give suggestions on how to improve. Practicing should take place outside of school. We strongly encourage students with multiple group members to arrange play dates in order to practice. How long can my child’s act be? Acts must not exceed 2 mins. Can my child perform in more than one act? With the exception of students being involved in a classroom performance, they may only be in one act in the show. What props can the school provide for my child’s act? All participants are responsible for securing his/her own props with the exception of gym mats, microphones, chairs, and music stands. Can my child’s music be on an iPod, iPhone, iPad? We are limited with technology so all music must be in the form of a CD only. All music must be appropriate for school. Can parents and family attend? The talent show is a showcase for students by students. Parents and family members are welcome to attend, but seating will be quite limited as this is an assembly for students and therefore the auditorium seats will go to the students first. What time will my child perform on the day of the talent show? No specific performance times can be given. Parents should be prepared to stay for the entire show to ensure that they don’t miss their child’s performance. Can I accompany my child on the piano, if he or she is singing? Yes. A piano is available for parent accompaniment. Who should I contact if I have any additional questions? Please email the talent show coordinators: Ms. Evette Little [email protected] or Mrs. Danielle McDaniels [email protected]
