This event which has completed its 11th year has collected over 100,000 phone books since its inception. The purpose of the program is to allow the 4-Hers and community citizens to experience a “hands on” activity to create a positive impact on the local environment while reducing waste going to the local landfill and saving trees. Leading the way this year was Whitley North Elementary collecting 3,827 phone books followed by Whitley Central Intermediate with 2,123, and Williamsburg Independent collecting 746. The overall club winner was Mullins’ Moneymakers who collected 1,371.
