Chief Executive Officer Pam Massey said “Having this new communal space for both patients and their families, gives people the opportunity to come together in a social and sup- portive way which enhances care for patients and their families. New buildings alone don’t make great care but providing space that enables choice and support together with expert care, lifts spirits in pursuit of excellent care”. Classical musician Stephen Hough, originally fromThelwall, was invited along to open the new patient and familylounge at St Rocco’s Hospice in Warrington.

The new £300,000 unit, completed earlier in 2014 by Whitfield& Brown, was created using Department for Health grant mon-ey.

The Grange SchoolThe new sixth form facility at the GrangeSchool, Hartford is now completed and sitson the North Eastern corner of the SeniorSchool site.

The two storey pavilion style building withterrace and garden area has been designedby Richard Eves Architects and offers studyfacilities for more than 200 students.

Along with offices for pastoral staff, class-rooms and bookable seminar rooms, thebuilding also houses a large common areacomplete with café facilities.

St John Rigby CollegeWhitfield & Brown were delighted to have been appointed toundertake the design and construction of the new Sports Hubfor St John Rigby College.

Situated on the site of an existing field where an old brick andslate store building was recently demolished, we constructeda new sports building which comprises of a gym, changingfacilities, four classrooms and a café area.

Enhancing Ashley SchoolAshley School has enhanced its facilities with a standalonesingle-storey extension that provides a new 6th form block toaccommodate students aged 16 to 19 years.

The school specialises in teaching young people with SocialCommunication Needs and High Functioning Autism.

The new Sixth Form has a cyber café, a workingoffice/administration area that is run by the students and avocation centre providing individual stations for painting,

Endoscopy Unit – Arrowe ParkThe unit located on the third floor of the hospital has been completelyrenovated and redecorated to create 7 new surgical rooms, 2 recoverybays, waiting area, reception and offices.

During construction, the original Endoscopy Department was sub dividedinto three phases with internal temporary partitions being erected for eachphase to enable the unit to remain operational throughout.

Aside from the refurbishment and redecoration, the contract comprised ofmajor mechanical & electrical improvements, all whilst maintaining existingservices.

Bill ShanklyChanging PavillionWhitfield & Brown have secured the contract with LiverpoolCity Council to construct a permanent football changingfacility on the Bill Shankly playing fields in West Derby.

The new accommodation will be erected to replace thetemporary containers that currently occupy the playingfields and will be compliant with Sport England’s & theFootball Foundations requirements and recommendationsfor accessibility.

The building has an overall footprint of 495m2 and willprovide 8 changing rooms, with shower, WC & separatereferee changing accommodation. Externally the singlestorey building will be four brick elevations in a basketweave pattern with black brick plinth & tiled sloping roof.

The design carried out by 2020 Liverpool has alsoconsidered longevity of use and has been designed as animpenetrable box outside of the opening hours.

Adventures Walk for CharityOn the 27th September 2014, 14 adventurous explorers of Whitfield& Brown walked nearly 15 miles and climbed Cat Bells, MaidenMoor, High Spy and Dale Head in Keswick to raise funds for TheSeashell Trust, Cheadle.

The charity is dedicated to providing a creative, happy and secureenvironment for children and adults with complex and severelearning disabilities which include little or no language abilities.
