As with the main car park, this would allow for shared use parking bays by both the school and parish. Currently there is significant wasted land at the southern end of our oval, backing onto Albion Park which can be backfilled and tastefully developed. An architect has been engaged to draw up plans to enable the school to submit an application to the Catholic Education Commission of WA for funding and approval to proceed. We are hoping to have an application prepared in time for the October CECWA meeting. If you would like a visual on this, please check out the initial concept sketch that has been posted on the staffroom window. Albion Park Integral to this parking plan will be the use of Albion Park as an overflow playing space for our students. As you are aware, our school oval is very busy with so many children trying to play ball games in the one space. The City of Joondalup has supported the school’s endeavour in providing extra play space by agreeing to lease Albion Park to the school for use during school hours. During these upcoming school holidays, the Operation Services of the City of Joondalup are proposing to undertake irrigation installation works so that the park is grassed all year round. This will take 7 working days to complete and the City will also undertake remedial work inclusive of mowing, tree maintenance, ground levelling, fertilising and initial weed control. The school has, this term, trialled the use of Albion Park with the Year 3 students at lunchtimes and as with all areas there are always two teachers on duty in this area. Staff have been very happy in the way this play space is working, as have the students. All in all, we believe this to be a positive partnership between the school and community. If you have any queries, please feel free to contact me. Brick Paving Fundraiser Associated with our current Stage 7 Building program will be the redevelopment of the area to the side of the school hall/gymnasium. This will include extensive new paving and is the perfect opportunity for our students, staff and families to have our names set as a lasting reminder of the part we have played in the history of this school. If you would like to purchase a paver, please check out the details as listed in the attached P&F newsletter. Your support would be very much appreciated. Boys Dance This Friday evening the boys involved in our Boys Dance group are performing at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. What an amazing experience this will be for the boys and their families. As a school community we wish them God’s special blessings as they hit the big stage!!! We send our condolences to Mr Geoff Clarke and his wife Karim on the recent passing of Karim’s grandfather in Peru. May they be blessed with many special memories as he now rests peacefully in the gentle arms of Jesus. Many blessings Tamara McGougan PRINCIPAL DON’T FORGET TO DRESS UP FOR BOOK PARADE THIS FRIDAY

PARENT TEACHER MEETINGS A reminder to parents that they are welcome to make an appointment with their class teacher to follow up any issues. Parents do not have to wait for formal events such as parent/teacher interviews or reports, but should contact the teacher to arrange a suitable time to meet. Do not catch teachers to discuss non-urgent issues without an appointment as they will need to focus on the class. A scheduled appointment will allow the teacher to give you their full attention.

SOCIAL WORKER NEWS: Cyber Safety Workshop for Parents Tuesday 6th September 7 – 9pm in WCPS library The world of social media & technology is fast becoming the centre of our children’s universe. It can be a challenging task for parents to stay on top of the dangers of social media and technology, while monitoring their child’s online behaviour and finding balance. We are offering a workshop for parents to learn more about managing children’s technology use, including an introduction into the most popular social media platforms and practical tips for keeping kids safe online. We will also cover information on setting boundaries around technology, online behaviour management, and tools for managing technology both in and outside of the home. If you’ve ever struggled with getting your kids off their games and into bed, worried about knowing what your child is accessing online, or felt concerned that your child was spending too much time in the digital world, this workshop is for you! Jordan Foster is the Director of ySafe, and is a registered Psychologist with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology. Jordan draws upon both her professional knowledge and personal experience as a 'wired' Gen Y to provide parents with the inside knowledge on social media and technology. Jordan aims to provide parents with unique insight as to what it actually means to grow up as a teenager with social media, and how as parents we can manage this strategically, immediately and of course, as pain-free as possible. We were fortunate to have Jordan Foster present at our school a number of years ago. Her presentation was very well received by those that were able to attend. Hoping that you can avail of this wonderful opportunity to attend her presentation. Elaine Mahon SOCIAL WORKER - [email protected] Available Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays
