Original Town Boundaries and then extended to Walker Farms

Served by wells and existing water tower Water lines installed in early 1950’s Original town water pipes undersized and need

replacing Walker Farms water lines are new and the

proper size

Created by the purchase of BCU in July, 2004 Includes Anson and additional annexed areas Water purchased from IWC (Indianapolis

Water Company / Veolia Water) Subject to IWC rate increases Lines are appropriately sized to new

construction standards

Recent Updates to North System

Increased the capacity of the water system Eliminated use of ozone oxidation system –

Sept 2006 Installed additional filters – Oct 2006 Completed Linville loop – Jan 2007 Chemically cleaned existing filters – Feb 2007 Maintaining flushing schedule

Upcoming Improvements to North System

Preparing to change disinfection method to maintain a more uniform disinfection residual in the system– Reducing disinfection by-products (TTHM and

HAA5)

Increasing production from the existing wells Working to acquire additional well fields

How Are We Going To Pay For This?

We entered the funding process with the state and are requesting funding through the State Revolving Fund programs (SRF)– Hoping to receive funding in April “Pool” program

Researching grants to assist in the water line replacement – Awarded mid-summer

Raise water rates Raise connection fees Raise capacity fees Investigate other area rate structures – based
