Hi everyone,
End of Term Dismissal
Students will be dismissed at 2.30pm on Friday, 5th April. We
will have recess from 2:00 until 2.30pm, but due to Department
of Education regulations, we are unable to dismiss students
until 2.30pm. However, parents may collect children earlier if
they wish. Please make sure you sign out your child/children
before taking them home if you leave early.
Team China
On Tuesday night approximately
110 people attended the dinner at
the Bendigo Stadium to support the
students travelling to China this year.
They were lucky enough to have the
coach of the Bendigo Braves draw
their raffle! Thanks to those who
supported this event.
Thank you also to the families
who have purchased pies through
the fundraiser the have organised.
Pick up day for the pies is Friday 5th April. On this day, the
parents will be selling boxes of 36 birthday cards for $25.

are interested. If you would like more information, please do
not hesitate to contact me.

REPEAT MESSAGES
Brain Food
It is important for children to keep up their energy levels and for their bodies to be fully hydrated, for optimal learning. ‘Brain
Food’ is food that is eaten in the classroom as an addition to the main meals and snacks eaten at recess and lunchtime. Students are
encouraged to bring bite size pieces of fresh vegetables and/or fruit to nibble.
It would be preferable to send ‘Brain Food’ for your child in small reusable containers – nothing too sticky or messy.
For the junior grades (Prep-Grade 2) it is helpful if food is pre-cut ready for eating. Please do not include processed foods
or nuts.
Acceptable ‘Brain Foods’ include:
• Fresh fruit and vegetables
• Dried fruit (eg apricots, prunes, raisins and sultanas)
Other healthy lunchbox items such as rice cakes, dips, yoghurt, cheese, boiled eggs and popcorn can be eaten
during recess and Lunch breaks.
Canteen Update
A note was distributed to all families with some changes to canteen processes. They are as follows:
The school canteen lunch ordering system will be changing to allow parents and carers more time to have their child’s lunch order
in– this only applies to Qkr orders - not cash orders in a bag.
Qkr orders can now be made up until 7am the morning of a lunch order day. You now have the opportunity to order the evening
before or first thing in the morning by 7am. Ordering cannot be made any later as time is needed to process orders, pick-up fresh
bread, deli goods, vegetables and order hot food made by our local bakery. We do hope this later Qkr order time will be helpful to
you and your family.

Chinese Immersion Program 2019
We are seeking families who are interested in hosting a Chinese student in October this year. The students usually arrive in early
Term 4 and leave in the first week of December.
I am seeking expressions of interest from families of children in Grades 3-6 (can be other grades also) to host a Chinese student for
four or eight weeks during their visit. The Grade 5 Chinese students are usually 10-11 years old. The Chinese school year begins in
September.
If you are interested in your child travelling to China next year, this experience would be looked upon favourably in the application
process and provides a Chinese family to visit when they go to China as 4 of the 5 students travelling this year are doing.
If you are interested please reply by email to [email protected]
If you would like more information or would like to speak with a family who hosted last year, please feel free to contact me.
Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to support you.

Principal
Turtle Pond Upgrade – helpers needed! Our Turtle Pond enclosure outside the prep rooms is in need of helpers to clear out the
bamboo and foliage. We also need assistance to remove the old pond and replace it with a
new one. Our school maintenance/gardener Matt requires some helping hands to get it done
before the turtles go into hibernation over winter.
If you can help, we have 2 dates early in Term 2 when work will be carried out:
Sunday 28th April 10.30am – 12 noon & Friday 3rd May 3.45pm – 5.00pm (after
school). If you can help on one or both of these sessions, your assistance would be greatly
appreciated.
Uniform Shop – New Winter Jacket Orders We are taking orders now for new winter waterproof jackets ready for Term 2.
Please order and pay on QKR, at the office or in the Uniform Shop.
PFG News Easter Raffle
The raffle will be drawn tomorrow on Friday 29th March at our afternoon assembly – good luck to
everyone who has entered the raffle.
The Shed Guys Bendigo Open Air Cinema – Ralph Breaks the Internet
This year for our family fun social event, we are screening “Ralph Breaks the Internet”, on our school oval
on Thursday 4th April. Tickets are $6.00 each, and pre-purchased tickets/combos must be returned to the
office by Tuesday 2nd April, 4pm. Tickets, food and drinks will be available to purchase at the event. We
hope to see as many families as possible there for a fun, low cost, social night out, in a relaxed outdoor
atmosphere.
Thank-you to The Shed Guys Bendigo, for being the major sponsor of our event in its third year running,
and to Splash Swimming Bendigo for also sponsoring the event. LM Dance School and the House of
Khong have also generously donated to the event this year. Please support those who generously support our
event and make it possible.
Ralph Breaks the Internet - Colouring in Competition
In conjunction with our Open Air Cinema screening of “Ralph breaks the internet”,
we are having a colouring competition. A prize will be awarded to a winner in each of
these 4 categories: Prep, grade 1 & 2, grade 3 & 4, and grade 5 & 6. Student leaders
have been visiting classrooms to sell sheets, and you can also purchase these from the
school office. The competition closes Tuesday 2nd April at 4.00pm. The winners will
be announced at the Open Air Cinema evening.
Mother’s Day/Special Person Stall
Our stall will be held on Thursday the 10th of May, early in Term 2. With the holiday break fast approaching, now is a good time
to consider an early contribution to this event. As always, we ask that everyone please provide one gift per student to the value of
$2.00 to enable every student to purchase a gift at the stall. New, unopened gifts only please. Over the holidays is also a good
time to have a look around and pick up a bargain. Please leave your donations at the office. Thank you for your support.
Next Meeting
Our next meeting will be held on Monday 1st April, at approximately 9.15am in the staffroom. All newcomers are welcome to
attend any meeting! You may bring along younger siblings to our meetings as well. Come and have morning tea with us, a
chat and a laugh, and find out what we do, around the school.
Thank you from PFG members
