Because of its low weight and small dimensions, the Beagle can be carried by two-man units and is also mountable on vehicles or on fixed posts, as needed. The Beagle is fully networkable, able to be used as a standalone unit, in clusters of 2-3, and/or networks of several dozens, as required by the scenario. The system itself is ultra-rugged, capable of withstanding a wide range of environmental hazards while maintaining its reliability, offering minimal chance of malfunction. Due to its operating principles, the Beagle has nominal possibility of jamming and possesses Low Probability of Intercept, Detect, and Exploit (LPI/LPD/LPE) capabilities.

PROPATRIA ELECTRONICS BEAGLE 3 PORTABLE GROUND SURVEILLANCE RADAR (PGSR)

Benefit to the Warfighter: Propatria’s Beagle Portable Ground Surveillance Radar (PGSR) is the only truly mobile GSR meeting SOF peculiar requirements, by offering truly mobile and highly sensitive GSR capabilities in austere in unpredictable environments. The Beagle PGSR works above 10,000 meters altitude, can be deployed and operational in under 3 minutes, provides full-spectrum GSR capabilities for firebase, outpost, or FOB security, and is operated entirely from a laptop computer, which can be multi-purposed for other requirements (the laptop does not need to be designated solely for the Beagle’s use). If the mission is compromised, the PGSR hardware can be left in place without compromising mission security, as all sensitive data resides on the laptop. The laptop can be connected to the hardware in multiple configurations, to include coax, Ethernet, or wireless. How soon is it available? Delivery within 30 days How much does it cost? $150,000 Qty 1.

The Beagle can be powered by two BB2590 batteries for up to 12 hours with continual use. This is an extremely useful feature as these batteries are in constant supply and easy to acquire. The Beagle can also be powered via the slave cable or AC power supply on most vehicles. Of most notable importance, the processing capabilities of the Beagle reside on a laptop computer (a Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 is supplied with the Beagle, if requested). No data resides on the receiver. This means that the system can be left in place in an emergency and there is no information or operational security ramifications. This also means that if a laptop is already being used, the Beagle can be operated from pre-existing equipment. Additionally, because of this design feature, the operator can be at a stand-off distance from the receiver, connected via network cable or even wirelessly, increasing their survivability. Summary and Key Points

Ultra Rugged (Mil Std 810)

Long Life Battery Power from current mil-spec batteries (BB2590x2)

Networkable with other ISR platforms including Thermal, IR, and NV

The “brain” of the Beagle resides on a rugged laptop computer. If compromised, operators can leave the area, only with the laptop, without jeopardizing OPSEC & COMSEC

LPD/LPD/LPE – Pakistan tests concluded the Beagle could not be detected at distances greater than 2 meters.

Lightweight, easily portable, easy to maneuver

Exceptional Detection Capabilities for its size and weight – Previous tests concluded it was the most accurate and reliable PGSR system available

Low Cost; volume discounts available

Field Sustainment – device lasts an extended amount of time on current mil-spec batteries

Easy to maneuver – entire system packs into 3 bags and weighs less than 40 pounds

Easy to use; can be set-up and operational in under 3 minutes

Integrates with common GIS applications (FalconView, ArcGIS, GeoRover)

Soldier Friendly and automated

Works in any environment, at both low and high temperatures, and at high altitudes (tested in Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Jordan, and France)

Developed in NATO country (Republic of Hungary)
