Mothers/Special Person Day Breakfast
It was so exciting to see so many mums, grandmothers, special
friends and children at the breakfast this morning enjoying a
wide array of options that included toast, cereal, yoghurt, fruit,
noodles, fried rice, spring rolls and of course tea and coffee.
Firstly, thank you to the families who were able to join us for
this special breakfast. On behalf of the school community, I
would sincerely like to acknowledge the efforts of our
wellbeing team - Ricky Cawley, Jo Wedgewood and Adrian
McErvale for organising and coordinating this event. I would
also like to thank Htoo Bo and our Karen families for preparing
some delicious food that reflects their cultural heritage and
background. These were certainly very popular among the
patrons! I would also like to recognize and thank the staff from
our school who assisted with the serving. I was very proud to
see so many staff volunteers demonstrating their undeniable
commitment to our school and contributing to the development
of a positive school community culture. Pictures at back page
Uniform Reminder
Last week at assembly, I reminded students that as it gets
colder it is acceptable to wear a jacket to and from school to
stay warm but when school starts, they must have a school
jumper. This ensures they can keep warm during breaks and
outdoor activities such as physical education while at school,
as they are not able to wear their jackets (unless it is a school
uniform item) during school hours.
National Walk Safely To School Day
On FRIDAY 17th MAY children throughout Australia are
being asked to walk to school with their parents/carers while
learning to be safe, active and healthy. If you cannot walk all
the way, combine a walk with public transport. If you must use
a car, try leaving it a good distance from the school and walk
the rest of the way. This is an annual campaign when all
primary school children, their parents and carers are
encouraged to walk and commute regularly and safely to
school. This community event promotes Road Safety, Health,
Public Transport and the Environment. Australian children are
becoming less active. One substantial contributor is the decline
in walking and/or taking public transport to school. Children
who are often physically active are healthier, perform better
academically and less likely to be obese or overweight, which
can lead to the long-term and costly risks of heart disease and
diabetes etc. Walking regularly is the best exercise because
you can build it in to a daily routine.

Canteen Update
The school canteen lunch ordering system has changed to allow parents and carers more time to have their child’s lunch order in–
this only applies to Qkr orders - not cash orders in a bag.
Qkr orders can now be made up until 7am the morning of a lunch order day. You now have the opportunity to order the evening
before or first thing in the morning by 7am. Ordering cannot be made any later as time is needed to process orders, pick-up fresh
bread, deli goods, vegetables and order hot food made by our local bakery. We do hope this later Qkr order time will be helpful to
you and your family.
