As in past years, we will be awarding two checks for $50 in order to encourage attendance: one to a resident who sends in his/her proxy and another to a person who attends the meeting. Come to our meeting—not only for the chance to win $50—but also to hear about actions by the Board, an analysis of our finances, to ask any question of our Board, and to vote on new representatives. We want to thank all of our Board members for another successful year of volunteering for our neighborhood. A special “thank you” goes to Phil Anderson, our current president, who will be coming off the Board after serving for five years. Annual Meeting Information: All residents are encouraged to attend our POA annual meeting, Monday, April 8 at 7:00pm at the Clubhouse. You should have received announcement of this meeting from Chaparral Management with information on voting for two new Board representatives. As in past years, we will be awarding two checks for $50 in order to encourage attendance: one to a resident who sends in his/her proxy and another to a person who attends the meeting. Come to our meeting—not only for the chance to win $50—but also to hear about actions by the Board, an analysis of our finances, to ask any question of our Board, and to vote on new representatives.

KISD District Spelling Bee Champion Competes In

PBS Spelling BeeKiara Sugay, an 8th grade student from Strack Intermediate

and the reigning KISD Spelling Bee Champion, represented her School, the District, and our community at the Houston PBS (channel 8) Spelling Bee which was televised March 23, 2013.

Kiara previously represented her school at the KISD district Spelling Bee on February 14, 2013, and won. She was also a Spelling Bee finalist at the KAC (Klein Academic Competition).

2013  Swimming  Pool  Information    

Wristbands  will  be  distributed  this  summer  to  residents  in  good  standing  allowing  them  to  use  the  pool  facilities.  All  residents  may  use  the  pool  Memorial  Day  Weekend…no  wristband  will  be  required  for  admittance.  Beginning  June  1,  2013  the  pool  will  be  open  for  the  season.  Wristbands  must  be  worn  by  all  residents  (unless  a  minor  with  a  parent)  to  use  the  pool.      

Wristbands  will  be  distributed  on  the  following  dates  at  the  pool:  June  1                          12:00-­‐3:00  p.m.  June  2                          12:00-­‐3:00  p.m.  June  8                            12:00-­‐3:00  p.m.  June  9                            12:00-­‐3:00  p.m.  

June  11          5:00-­‐7:00  p.m.  June  12          5:00-­‐7:00  p.m.  June  13          5:00-­‐7:00  p.m.    

After  June  13,  2013  at  7:00  p.m.,  residents  will  be  required  to  go  to  Chaparral    Management  Company  to  get  their  wristbands  and  will  be  charged  $5.00  per  bracelet  

 or  a  maximum  of  $20.00  per  family.  **CASH  ONLY**

school  opening  (Pool  Closed  All  Week)    

• Labor  Day  weekend,  8/31,  9/1,  9/2    –  Pool  Open   12:00  p.m.  –  8:00  p.m.  • Pool  season  closes  after  Monday,  September  2    • Other  Closures  as  noted**    

 *Beginning  July  2,  2013  the  regular  pool  hours  will  change  to  accommodate  morning  swimming.    The  new  hours  will  be:         Tuesday  and  Thursday           10:00  a.m.  –  8:00  p.m.         Wednesday,  Friday,  Saturday  and  Sunday     12:00  p.m.  –  8:00  p.m.    **The  pool  is  closed  for  chemical  treatment  on  Mondays  unless  it  is  a  holiday.    If  a  holiday  falls  on  a  Monday  the  pool  will  be  closed  the  next  day,  Tuesday,  for  cleaning  and  chemical  treatment.

Klein ISD Employees Are Living Kleinwell

District wellness program provides 6,000 employees with healthy living options

The Kleinwell Family Fitness Fair is scheduled for 8 a.m. - noon on Saturday, April 27, at the Klein Memorial Stadium - 16715 Stuebner-Airline Rd., Klein. The health fair featuring community vendors is free. The One Mile Run/Walk begins at 8 a.m. Registration is $10 per person and includes a t-shirt and prizes. New in 2013 is the first Kleinwell Biggest Loser, which is a 12-week weight loss challenge for employees. You will find that it has some current news, a lost and found section, information about the pool, a map of the subdivision and most importantly, a form that will give you the Gate Code information. It is important to send in a request for the code so if the code changes in the future, you will receive an email with the new code. The gate code will be changed for security reasons in the very near future! You can also make suggestions as to what you would like to see added to the website. If you have timely information that can’t wait for the newsletter, it is a good place to display it. It is a great site and very easy to navigate! Check it out!

DISPOSAL OF HAZARDOUS WASTEHarris County now has its own permanent Household

Hazardous Waste disposal facility located at 290 and Gessner that is open to all Harris County residents that live in the un-incorporated areas. This facility is run by Cheryl Burton-Fentress, and she is the best person to contact for anything related to HHW. Cheryl has been involved in and around this industry for many years and is considered an expert in the field.
