LETTER FROM THE SISTERHOOD PRESIDENTI am so proud to be representing Temple Israel Sisterhood! We have had many wonderful events so far this year. We held our annual Mah Jongg Tournament in August. We joined the Women of Hartford Memorial Church for a tour of the Art Museum followed by a wonderful dinner. We visited

Yad Ezra for a tour and learned to make pickled green beans and cabbage. Siggy Flicker wowed us with her charm and her stories

at Sisterhood’s Opening Program this year. We held our first Pop-up Boutiques in December in time for the holidays. Almost 200 people joined us for our New Years Bingo Bash in January and I can’t wait until next year’s event. Sisterhood and Brotherhood enjoyed a wonderful Trivia Night as we hosted our first annual joint program! Our Greenhouse Lecture Series was launched in support of our commitment to support the The Fruit of Our Hands Greenhouse in the ECC. So much fun was had at the Grab and Go Bouquets event with Sue Goldsmith. So many fun times this year!

We had many more planned; however, at this time, it is not safe to gather together. Once it is safe to gather again we will resume our plans as well as have many new programs and activities for you to enjoy. At this time our Election Brunch, Spring Boutiques and Styling Event, Installation Luncheon and Hour Tour have been cancelled. Our Gift Shop will remain closed until Temple Israel reopens its doors. We are being challenged to create and revise traditions.

This Passover will not be the same as in the past at my house. Rather than twenty five to thirty guests around the table, we will be meeting via a zoom call each preparing our own dinners. Though this is not the way we planned to celebrate Passover, we have to adapt to the times and think of the safety of others.

As we shelter in place, we are still sisters together anticipating better days. We all look forward to a “new normal” with health and joy in the coming month. Have a sweet Pesach!!
