Transcript of Where Does Your Money Go? - Casa Esperanza Montessori2012-2013 PFA Income & Expenses Terracycle...
So, when we say, “Event proceeds benefit the PFA”
what exactly does that mean?
It’s a great question and we
think you might be surprised
by the answer. The PFA is not
just about volunteering at
family nights and stocking
teacher bathrooms (although
these are all essential parts of
our group.) The PFA either
completely or partially funds a
lot of programs at the school
that benefit your child and
these programs can cost a
lot of money.
This newsletter’s big story is
going to highlight exactly
where YOUR money goes
when you buy a Casa Gear
item or bring in
TerraCycle items. Since
the 2013-2014 school year
is still pretty new, we’re
going to use our fiscal year
numbers from 2012-2013 to
paint a complete picture of our
financial distribution.
Please
“turn the page” to see where
exactly your money goes...

So, does the PFA cover more than you might have thought? Some of our biggest expenses are Movement Classes (PE classes this year), Faculty Grants (teacher requests), and the Media Center. If you didn’t already realize it, YOU, a current member of the PFA, make a huge difference in what this school has to offer our children.
As far as the numbers are concerned, a common question we get is why a single event or income source (like Boxtops) can’t fund something specific (like Staff Appreciation).
As you can see in the infographic, there’s really no single income source that could fund one specific program. Also, all income sources are estimated costs. When we figure up estimated income in May before the upcoming fiscal year, we have no way to know exactly how much we’ll earn on any certain program.
Expenses are usually much easier to predict, but can also be variable.
Just like you and I do at home, the PFA takes all of its income sources and distributes them as needed. You have to balance things like that, since a lot of our income is received at different times throughout the year, just as expenses are paid at different times throughout the year.
If you have questions about any of this data, you are always welcome to email the PFA at [email protected] OR we would love to have you attend one of our monthly meetings at Panera Bread (meeting dates are posted on the school calendar, on the PFA website, and on Facebook.)
Want to THANK your teachers this November? Think SCRIP!
What is Scrip? It is a fundraising program for the school.
How does it work? You purchase a gift card for the face value of the card, and that’s it!!
How does the school raise money from the scrip program? We purchase the cards from Scrip for a discounted rate. Each retailer offers a different percentage. You can find that information on the Scrip website.
Please send in your order form and cash/check to the front office (make sure to include your name, email address, and phone number.) Orders can be picked up in the front office by the Monday after the order was turned in, unless otherwise arranged.
Please DO NOT put order forms/money in the Friday Folders to return to the school. They tend to get lost! Thank you!!!
Cards are always available in the front office for purchase.
In Summary...
