Where does color come from?• A ray of light is the

source of all color.

• Without light, color does not exist.

• The color wheel is a basic tool we use when working with colors.

• It is based on the standard color theory known as the Brewster/Prang theory.

Creating Your Color Wheel• As I introduce the colors

to you, you will need to use a colored pencil to complete your own color wheel for your portfolio.

• This color wheel will be your reference tool for color in Interior Design, so you need to be accurate and careful to place the colors in the correct spaces on your paper.

The Tertiary Colors• Yellow-Orange,

Red-Orange, Red- Violet, Blue-Violet, Blue-Green, Yellow-Green.

• Made by combining a primary and a secondary hue.

• Named by the Primary color first.

YELLOW + ORANGE = YELLOW-ORANGERED + ORANGE = RED-ORANGERED + VIOLET / PURPLE = RED-VIOLETBLUE + VIOLET / PURPLE = BLUE-VIOLETBLUE + GREEN = BLUE-GREENYELLOW + GREEN = YELLOW-GREEN

Your Finished Color Wheel• Your completed

color wheel should look like this one.

• It will be placed in your portfolio so you will be able to use it as a reference as we complete our projects class.
