Leon Pettit, one of the original five that started with OWOSSO, passed away on March 3rd - he was 80. Leon retired from Owosso Graphic Arts in 1997 after 35 years of craftsmanship. Leon will be remembered for his jokes, being a great etcher and teacher of the craft. ~ RIP Leon.~

The world’s largest Chee-to® is located in Algona, Iowa-but the world’s largest etching machine is located right

We can etch dies, in one piece, up to 30” wide by 120” long. Why you ask? The next time you’re driving down the highway

take a look at the RV’s, semi-trucks and delivery trucks-many of the decals are thermal kiss-cut using a magnesium die. We’ve also made Oversized Dies for debossing leather door panels and for a refrigerator door front for the GE showroom in NYC.

Magnesium Flammability People who work with magnesium dies should be aware that it could present a fire hazard. Ordinary sawing, drilling or grinding of your magnesium plates will not in itself cause a fire - we do this all day long, five days a week. There is a risk, however, that small particles of magnesium metal “shavings” can be ig-nited by other fire hazards such as: open flames, sparks from a saw or un-guarded elec-trical motors, etc.

If a fire starts, don’t panic. While your first instinct may be to grab the nearest fire extinguisher to douse a magnesium fire, not just any extinguisher will do -- you need a Class D Extinguisher. Good housekeeping is the best prevention - keeping your work areas clean can prevent a small fire from quickly spreading into something much larger.

Owosso Release Coating (ORC) can help you reduce vinyl waste due to

sticking and scorching in the thermal kiss-cutting process, sticking on certain foil stamping jobs, rubber stamp masters and leather debossing dies. The process re-

If there is a manufacturing defect in the die, we will replace it immediately at no charge. We may ask you to return the original die and product samples so we can evaluate the problem for continuing quality improvement.

Our warranty covers replacement of the die that has a manufacturing defect. OWOSSO is not liable for any other warranties expressed or implied, or for damages which may be direct, incidently or consequential to use of the die.

Dies made per incomplete or incorrect instructions, or from poor copy (not sharp or clear and do not produce well), do not qualify for no-charge warranty replacement.
