Wings is a weekend camp for youth, ages 8 to 16, who have had a loved one to pass away. Wings

gives campers the opportunity to make new friends with others who have also experienced a loss, to find creative ways to express their feelings, to

experience comfort & encouragement from peers, and to have some fun & laughter! The camp is NOT restricted to children of families served by 3HC and children are not

turned away due to the inability to pay!

3HC hosted the 11th annual Mardi Gras Gala on February 21, 2015 at Walnut Creek Country Club in Goldsboro, NC. The ballroom was filled with over 400 people showing their support for Kitty Askins Hospice Center, raising $53,395!!

The evening began with the silent auction. Businesses from Wayne, Lenoir, Wilson & Duplin counties, individuals, artists and 3HC employees generously donated a variety of items. There was definitely something there to tickle everyone’s fancy! After the guests shopped a bit at the auction, they sat down for a dinner prepared by Walnut Creek. This year, the menu was completely transformed from the normal Mardi Gras-inspired dishes and we had great

reviews!!

The King & Queen of Mardi Gras contest had its best year yet! Four couples participated in the fundraiser. These couples were Jerrett & Tiffany Kight, Bob & Penny Kornegay, Ben & Janice Smith and Barry & Olivia

Stallings. These amazing couples raised a total of $23,617!! The winning couple was Bob & Penny Kornegay, raising $12,178! The runners-up were Barry & Olivia Stallings with $6,250, followed by Ben &

Janice Smith with $3,909 and Jerrett & Tiffany Kight with $1,280! Not only did these couples raise a ton of money for our hospice programs & Kitty Askins Hospice Center, they also raised a lot of awareness to the

services offered.

Finally, the most anticipated event of the evening began- the Reverse Drawing for $5,000! Luke Vail served as the emcee/DJ this year, announcing ticket numbers until only five tickets remained. The final five

ticket holders chose to split the grand prize. Congratulations to the lucky winners: BB&T Insurance Ser-vices, Brian Taylor, Jessi Bond, Mike Davis and Bo & Miriam Wessell! As the winners celebrated their vic-

tory, guests were invited to “get their dance on.”

This wonderful fundraiser would not be possible without the help of awesome volunteers. We extend a special thanks to the community volunteers, 3HC volunteers, and the members of 3HC’s Advisory Development Board. These people did a fabulous job and, once again, the evening was a huge success!

The 7th annual Kitty Askins Hospice Center Angel Tree fundraiser was held this holiday season. The gorgeous, hand‐

made ornaments were made once again by wonderful volunteers in the months preceding Christmas. There were over 

900 angel ornaments sold and displayed on the Christmas trees at Kitty Askins, with donations totaling $12,150 for Kitty 

Askins Hospice Center and the hospice programs of 3HC!
