What’s New in Meridio 5.1 Integration with Autonomy’s Intelligent Data Operating Layer (IDOL) Server Autonomy’s IDOL is an infrastructure layer that indexes an enterprise’s data and serves as a platform for the conceptual and contextual understanding of information in an enterprise. This complete infrastructure layer allows for the automatic categorization, tagging, linking, retrieval and profiling of all forms of unstructured information in real-time regardless of repository. It automatically analyzes any piece of information from 1,000 different content formats, including text, voice or video and delivers over 500 functions including hyperlinking, agents, summarization, taxonomy generation, retrieval, channels, clustering, eduction, profiling, collaboration and alerting. The IDOL platform provides a flexible framework, incorporating the essential attributes of an enterprise infrastructure platform:

Scalability - a linearly scalable system that can grow with the evolving information needs of an enterpriseMapped Security - delivering document and intra-document access control against user, group and role level entitlementGlobal Language Support - to enable the delivery of content in multiple languagesSupport for Future Technologies - delivered through an architecture that is extensible and can grow and adapt to new requirements and technologies

Information GovernanceIntegrated with IDOL, Meridio is an important component of Autonomy’s Information Governance platform which is the industry’s first solution to automate real-time policy management based on forming a conceptual and contextual understanding of all enterprise information. This solution represents a major step forward in reducing risks inherent in information by applying policy based on understanding the actual content of an email, document or phone recording instead of relying solely on its metadata.

Meridio provides the compliance and disposition piece of this solution to ensure that information related to a legal or regulatory matter isn’t accidentally deleted or kept too long, while managing information in place to eliminate the need to copy or move data. Furthermore, Meridio provides automatic categorization against pan-enterprise fileplans, while supporting global certifications such as DoD 5015.2 and VERS.

Autonomy KeyView Meridio 5.1 sees integration with Autonomy’s file recognition and viewing solution: KeyView. KeyView provides support for WYSIWYG viewing and printing of all popular word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, graphic, multimedia, compression and encoding formats. This powerful and flexible viewing and file management interface lets users view the files they need without installing multiple client applications. KeyView provides viewing functionality in the Meridio Viewer and Meridio Browser, HTML conversion and file recognition functionality.

OLE linking Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) links are links between documents that allow the embedding of information from one feed document into the host document. This allows, for example, part of a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to be embedded in a Microsoft Word document and as the original spreadsheet is updated, so the data in the host Word document is also updated. Meridio for Desktop Applications 5.1 provides new functionality where Office documents held within Meridio can be linked with other Office documents, allowing two documents wholly held within Meridio to be linked.

Supports Microsoft Excel as a source documentSupports Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint as destination documentsSupports ‘OLE’ links and ‘Excel’ links Supports charts, graphs etcSupport is provided for Microsoft office 2003Supported on Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista

Digital Signature Usability EnhancementsIn previous versions of Meridio for Desktop Applications it has been possible to view and add Digital Signatures to current and previous versions of a document. However to update the signature for the current document version required the user to select a menu item to view the properties and then select a separate tab to view the digital signatures. In Meridio 5.1 enhanced functionality has been provided:

The Meridio toolbar has been enhanced to include a digital signatures button which can be used to directly invoke the digital signature form for the current version of an open documentThis feature is available in both configurations of Meridio for Desktop Applications (integrated and separate toolbar)This functionality is available in Office 2003 and Office 2007

Extended Amend for ContainersBefore Meridio 5.1, a user could not add sub-containers to any Document Management container for which they had ‘Amend’ permission.

Meridio 5.1 allows users with ‘Amend’ permission on a container to add sub-containers.

Autonomy Systems Ltd.

Silent Addition of ContainersPre-Meridio 5.1 having container custom properties on a system forced the display of the custom metadata form when creating a new container in Meridio for Desktop Applications and Meridio for Microsoft Outlook.

Meridio 5.1 introduces the ability to configure whether this form appears. For example, it can be set to only be shown if there are mandatory metadata values for a new folder.

MOSS 2007 Upgrade EnhancementsIt is important for corporate customers to be able to upgrade their Meridio installation from Microsoft SharePoint 2003 to MOSS 2007. Meridio 5.0 provided an upgrade path using gradual (side-by-side) SharePoint upgrades. Meridio 5.1 now provides support for Content Migration upgrades where content databases can be individually upgraded to MOSS 2007. This has the advantage that the upgraded system may now be located on a different physical machine allowing hardware upgrades as part of the overall upgrade process.

Security PagesIn Meridio for Web Users the security pages for all objects have been updated to display ownership information.

File UploadsMeridio for Web Users has been extended to support the upload of files up to 800MB in size. The feedback provided to users on progress of the upload has also been enhanced.

Search AccessibilityThere is enhanced support for JAWS accessibility software in both the Search screen and Search results in Meridio for Web Users.
