meet your lieutenant governor

Dear Division 2 of the New Jersey District of Key Club International,

Hello! My name is Joelle Feshuk and I am the Lieutenant Governor for Division 2 of the New Jersey District of Key Club International. I am honored to be given the opportunity to further my service with Key Club while acting on the District Board of Trustees.

I am currently a junior at Mainland Regional High School in Linwood, New Jersey. Even from a young age, I have had a passion for serving my community. My exposure to Kiwanis began when I became a Builder’s Club member in 5th grade. I have eagerly returned every year to devote my time and enthusiasm to this wonderful organization. At my 8th grade graduation, I received the Kiwanis Leadership award for distinguished service and good citizenship. When I entered high school, I was immediately attracted to Key Club and all that it had to offer. Unfortunately, my home club was fading quickly with insufficient member commitment and lack of organization.

I decided to challenge myself and run for President during my sophomore year. Since then, I have gone above and beyond as a President with my duties, exceeding fundraising goals, and promoting the spirit of service in my school. My home club has been resurrected with thriving membership, great service projects, and a fantastic board of officers.

As Lieutenant Governor, it is my mission to exceed all expectations for this job. My number one priority is to cultivate the potential of the clubs in our division. I will act as a mentor, to help provide the officers with all of the resources they may require to flourish. I will strive to develop a personal connection with each officer, because it is essential that the officers feel comfortable contacting me with their problems or concerns. I would love to host more divisional events. These events are a great way to connect within our division, fundraise, and promote our organization and our causes. In addition, I believe that we possess the capability to increase attendance at district events exponentially. From Fall Rally, Regional Training Conferences, to District Convention—I plan to ignite the spirit of service and strengthen the division as a whole.

Key Club is my number one priority, and I am endlessly passionate about service. I have set extraordinary goals for this division, and I will do my best so see them through. I believe that united, as a division, we have the ability to execute these goals and improve the division to new heights. In addition, I will carry the momentum and excitement about Key Club throughout the entire service year. I promise to commit my passion for service into action, devoting all of my time and energy into making this the best service year the division has seen yet. Thank you for reading and thank you for this amazing opportunity.

Yours in Caring and Service,

district convention recap

Hundreds of Key Clubbers from around the New Jersey District gathered at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa from April 5th to 7th to celebrate a “Roarin' Year of Service.” The 67th Annual New Jersey District Convention was a huge success. As with every District Convention, the past District Board was retired and the new board was inducted following the elections of district positions.

Throughout the weekend, Key Clubbers connected through their common interest in service and passion for Key Club. Of course, the weekend would not be complete without fun, informative workshops and caucusing. To end each night, Key Clubbers danced the night away at a 1920's themed dance and semi-formal Governor's Ball.

In addition, individual clubs and members were acknowledged and commemorated for their outstanding service and achievements.

Is $850 a little out of your price range? No problem! Here are some excellent

methods of earning money for International

Convention!

►CONTACT YOUR LOCAL KIWANIS CLUBAsking Kiwanians for financial support is one of the best ways to earn money for International Convention. Kiwanians are extremely supportive of students who are passionate about Key Club and want to become more involved with service. My local Kiwanis sponsored my trip to International Convention last year in Orlando, Florida, in addition to this year's District Convention. Important Things to Remember:

-Be respectful and appreciative. -Attend a Kiwanis meeting and inform them about International Convention

and how your attendance will impact your school's Key Club and the community.

-If your local Kiwanis Club chooses to sponsor you, be sure to send them a thank you letter and visit a meeting after the convention to share details about your experience.

►PLAN A FUNDRAISING EVENTTry planning a fundraising event with your school's club, or even a group of friends. Wonderful ideas include: car washes, restaurant nights, bake sales, outdoor concerts, movie nights, etc. Any and every increment helps!

►ASK YOUR SCHOOL'S CLUB TO SPONSOR YOUTalk with your club's advisor about the club sponsoring your trip. If your club has additional funds from previous fundraising events, ask your advisor for a donation. The members can vote on sponsoring you at a meeting.

►HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUHave a birthday coming up? Ask your parents if you can attend ICON in place of your usual birthday presents. International Convention is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you will remember for the rest of your life. In 25 years, you'll remember the memories and friendships you made--rather than the video game or pair of jeans you received.

►ASK YOUR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR If you are interested in attending ICON, please contact me at any time, and I will do everything possible to make sure that you are able to attend! I would love nothing more than to have Division 2 be represented at International Convention this year.
