The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 23rd Annual Golf Out- ing held at member venue the Ramsey Golf and Country Club on Monday, September 22, 2014 was a resounding success on every level. The weather was sunny and dry, and golfers tested their skills on the 18-hole course with the chances to win great prizes. Sever- al would-be golfers learned the sport for the first time, and an army of vol- unteers made sure the day went smoothly. The cocktail hour was held at The Abbey and its course-side patio, followed by a dinner in the Grand Ballroom. Over 200 attendees came to celebrate Thomas M. Eastwick, the President of Eastwick College, as he received MRCC’s 2014 Humanitarian of the Year Award. All attendees were rewarded with a fabulous day of out- door activities followed by an unfor- gettable evening program, exciting prizes, awards, and dinner. • Hospitality executives Frank O’Dea and GregDodge engaged Superior Technology Solutions

of Pearl River, NY, to create a labor schedulingapplication, ScheduleCloud, by One Touch.The cloud-based soft-ware was rolled out inSeptember of 2013 andis now actively used by hospitality giants Restau-rant Associates, Wolfgang Puck, and UniversalStudios in several markets including New York,Los Angeles, Boston and Washington DC. Thesoftware pricing is very competitive and is basedon the number of users. Schedule-Cloud can beused on the enterprise level or for smaller caterersand special event companies. Superior Technolo-gy is already working on new enhancements forthe mobile version of the application.

• The fourth season of Rockland Boulders

baseball was a historic one for the franchise bothon the field and in the stands. During the 2014campaign, Rockland welcomed their 500,000thfan to Provident Bank Park as more than 175,000folks piled into the stadium for various events.The Boulders led the league in overall attendance(159,739) and average attendance (3,182 pergame) for the third straight season.

On the field, Rockland earned a franchise best56 wins during the regular season, finishing witha record of 56-40 and capturing their first everleague pennant. The momentum only increasedinto September as the Boulders rolled to their firstCan-Am League postseason title, defeating theNew Jersey Jackals in the Championship Series in

six games. One individual also set new leaguerecords in 2014 as first baseman Jerod Edmond-son became the all-time hits leader in Can-AmLeague history while setting a new career markfor runs scored.

As a squad, Rockland led the league in nine different offensive categories while seeing threeplayers earn All-League honors. Edmondson,along with outfielders Ryan Stovall and AntoneDeJesus were named Can-Am League All-Starswhile DeJesus was named the league’s DefensivePlayer of the Year. Manager Jamie Keefe was alsonamed the Can-Am Manager of the Year, the sec-ond time he has earned that honor in his career.

The success continued away from ProvidentBank Park as three different Boulders had theircontracts purchased by Major League organiza-tions in 2014. Infielder Steve Nyisztor was signedby the Arizona Diamondbacks and assigned toSingle-A Hillsboro where he helped the Hops winthe Northwest League Championship. PitcherSean Bierman was bought by the Atlanta Bravesand assigned to High-A Lynchburg while fellowhurler Joe Donino was signed by Arizona in lateSeptember.

MRCC inteRnStephanie Foo is currently a senior at the Bergen County Acade-mies, a public magnet high school located in Hackensack, NJ.She is a dedicated high-honor roll student in the Academy forTechnology and Computer Science; however, she wishes to pur-sue a business-related major in college. Stephanie chose to internat the Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce in order to ex-pand her business experience and improve her professional skills.She is hoping to assist the MRCC by using her web page devel-opment, spreadsheet, and presentation knowledge. • Ramsey Borough Hall was standing room only onWednesday night, October 22, as the Mayor and Councilacknowledged the contributions of the 2014 Volunteers ofthe Year. Volunteer organizations in Ramsey were each invited to nominate one member who has gone above andbeyond to help the organization give back to the town.One of our MRCC Directors, Jade Gunver from ProminGroup, was awarded “Volunteer of the Year” by TheWomen’s Club of Ramsey. 3.1 mile course features many highlights, including the scenic Ramapo

Reservation and River, the beautiful Hunt & Polo Club neighborhood, and

Ramapo College’s historic Havemeyer House. The majority of course fol-

lows wide woods roads and well-maintained grass and dirt trails. The last

mile, on paved roads, leads back to the finish line at the Darlington School-

house, where food, an awards ceremony, and Schoolhouse tours await!
