What’s New for AccuNest February 2020

AccuMark releases are being identified by date and internally by number, the internal identifier for the AccuNest February 2020 version is 13.0.

Beginning in version 12.1.0, the AccuMark Product Family software offerings were updated to take advantage of 64-Bit operating systems. Supported Operating Systems for this version and higher:

• Windows 10 64 Bit (Desktop pc OS)

• Windows Server 2016 (Server OS)

Product Overview

AccuNest is an addition to the AccuMark that can be used to automate your marker making needs to make:

• Sample markers

• Pre-production markers

• Regular production markers including Tubular, Bookfold, and Sectional

• Markers with matching information AccuNest is available in two editions:

• AccuNest MC features Multi Core support. This means that all the processing power of each core of the computer can be used simultaneously to nest a marker, to produce the best possible nest. For this reason, AccuNest MC performs best on a powerful computer with multiple cores.

For example, an i7 processor can use up to eight cores to nest a marker with eight different algorithms nesting simultaneously. The number of processing cores to use can be restricted by a user, with the default setting being to nest on all cores. If you are using AccuNest as a server to process jobs from multiple Job Submission stations, be aware performance is best if the AccuNest is dedicated to nesting, not sharing other processing tasks in networks such as a plotter processing station or license server.

Updating from Prior Versions Beginning with version 10.0.0 AccuNest, a new security key for the engine was introduced. This silver WIBU security key is paired with an AccuMark Interface key. If you are updating from an AccuNest version 9.0 or lower, a nesting key exchange is needed. Request the key exchange from your Gerber representative prior to installing AccuNest software. If you are updating from prior versions of V10, no AccuNest key exchange is necessary, but the AccuNest WIBU key will need a license file update. If the key was updated for v11.0.0, no further key update is needed for v12.1.0. The nesting engine version for AccuNest 11.0.0, 12.0.0 and 12.1.0 is 7.0. In addition, the AccuMark interface key will need an update applied to version 12.2.0 to update to v13.0.0. Request this update from your Gerber service representative.

Pair Orientation for AccuNest A new Piece Option selection has been added, which is to allow AccuNest to maintain the orientation of the left/right pieces as defined in the Model. This setting is in the AccuMark Laylimits table, and can be selected for all pieces (Default) or to only certain piece types by entering the piece category and selecting this new option “P” As AccuNest automatically makes the most efficient marker possible, if the left or right piece is flipped, this setting will ensure the opposite is also flipped to maintain the proper pairing.

Note: To apply and use this feature, AccuMark must be February 2020 or higher as well, internal version number is 13.0.0 or higher.

AccuNest v12.2

Pack without Changing Relative Piece Position

A new setting 'Limit Movement' was added to QueSubmit Nest Markers dialog. When packing with this setting enabled, placed pieces will move at most the given distance vertically or horizontally. The distance will be in inches or centimeters, depending on QueSubmit configuration.

Setting this value to 0 will disable the setting, and attempting to input negative value or value larger than 1,000,000 will produce a validation error message. The value limit is the same regardless of unit setting.

AccuNest Placement Groups by Category

AccuNest can now place pieces in sections and shade zones by piece category. There are now two radio button groups to allow selection, with sections having the additional option 'From AccuPlan'.

Please note that placement groups will show only the selected criteria, so, for example when using Sections from AccuPlan or Sections/Shade Zones by Category, bundles and sizes will not be selectable. When the placement group dialog displays, simply enter the AccuMark piece category name into the grid, and choose the appropriate section or shade zone.

Same Line Support for Point Matching

Markers created with the Matching Rules editor with rules created with the type “Same” as the match type can now be processed by AccuNest to observe this restriction. In previous software versions, pieces with Same Matching were placed as if the rule was created with Relative Matching.

Note that this change will impact the efficiency of matching markers due to the restriction of same line. Additionally, some markers may not be placed if the length of the plaid line is not sufficient to allow the pieces with Same Matching to be nested on it.

What’s New for AccuNest 11.0.0 Diagonal Area Nesting A new option has been added to the Nest Marker dialog to set an angled marker border. This feature is useful for creating markers with a bias or skew.

When selecting this option, Compact is automatically disabled. A temporary construct is added to the beginning of the marker as a guide for piece placement.

Page 10: What’s New for - Gerber Technology · new engine. Key Update for AccuNest 11.0.0 The current version of the AccuNest WIBU key is 6, but to run the new nesting engine in AccuMark

The stored AccuMark marker results do not have this temporary shape.

The valid values for the Marker Border angle range from 60 to -60 degrees.

Priority The nesting priority interface has been changed from “Low, Normal, High” to a numeric range, “1-9” The priority field is blank by default, unless the job has been submitted from Batch Processing. The priority can be edited by right clicking on the nesting job in the queue, then selecting a value 1-9, with one being highest priority and nine the least. This new enhancement provides consistency between AccuNest and applications such as Batch Processing. This change allows the priority to be viewed in the AccuNest queue in the same format as found in the Batch Processing Queue, and to maintain the priority originally set in the Batch Parameter Table.

Check Overlaps A new option was added to QueSubmit nest job dialog - Check Overlaps, which is found in the Nesting Options of the Nest Markers dialog. This option is checked by default, which corresponds to the same behavior as prior software versions.

Skipping the check for overlaps by deselecting the checkbox is intended for use with markers containing pre-placed pieces that were intentionally overlapped.

When unchecked all overlap checking for the result marker will be skipped. The nest log will contain a message informing the user that the overlap check was disabled.

Maintain Sections from AccuPlan

When processing sectional markers created by AccuPlan through Batch Processing, the planned sections can now be maintained by AccuNest.

When checked, section numbers from a given sectional marker will be used to determine initial number of sections/shade zones and to automatically assign groups. This assignment can be changed manually, just like when using By Size or By Bundle. When using AccuPlan, set this option in the Batch Parameter table; make sure you select ASNT as a marking method, then click on "AccuNest options" button to open the dialog to set the sectional selection to maintain the information from AccuPlan. The Queue Submit nest job dialog displays. Check the "From AccuPlan" option under Placement Groups. By using Batch tables, sectional markers created by AccuPlan will be automatically maintained all the way from AccuPlan through nesting.

What’s New for AccuNest 10.4.0 A new option Block Fuse Nested Pieces was added to the Queue Submit nesting job dialog box.

This setting is unchecked by default, and when checked, all pieces in the resulting marker will be added to a single large block fuse. To avoid invalid results, folding will be disabled when using the new option.

Please note that to be able to place the resulting block fused shape in the marker, the block amount used is very small, to ensure it does not exceed the marker width and achieve best utilization. (0.0025 inch)

What’s New for AccuNest 10.3.0 Nesting efficiency continues to improve in this new version, with noticeable savings for markers containing many small pieces.

Folded Pieces

A new entry has been added to the Configure menu to allow AccuNest the same flexibility as Easy Marking; the ability to specify if a piece is added when a piece is folded. In previous versions, when a piece was folded an additional piece was automatically added with no way to disable the addition. Now, in the Configure menu the setting “Folding Adds Piece” is turned on by default, to maintain the previous behavior. However, the checkbox can be de selected, and an additional piece will not be added to the marker being nested.

In this tubular fabric spread example, an additional back is added when the first mirrored back is placed by AccuNest. The piece is added as the default setting “Folding Adds Piece” is checked. The front is placed open on the fabric.

In this example, the “Folding Adds Piece” is not checked, so the additional folded back and front pieces are not added when these are folded.

Improved Message for Overrides

When setting overrides for pieces when nesting, if limits are exceeded for the values being entered, an information box will display with the acceptable range.

Setting a Weft Skew for Nesting

A new field has been added to the AccuMark Laylimits to define an amount of skew for knits. Defining a weft skew will allow knit fabric which is not quite perfect to have parts placed in an orientation, once cut, the pieces are not distorted.

Because the skew is universally applied to particular pieces based on piece category, AccuNest will not flip or rotate pieces with a weft skew set in the Laylimits to ensure the pieces are oriented correctly, following the defined skew.

The amount of skew can be set from -90 to 90 degrees. In the pictures below, a 10 degree and a -10 skew has been set, which will automatically apply skew to all pieces with the skew defined for the piece category, tilting each to compensate for the fabric skew.

Weft Skew set to 10 degrees

Weft Skew set to -10 degrees

Show/Hide Nesting Window

Beginning with AccuNest version 10.1.0, the nesting window would display on the AccuNest server while the marker nests. This feature was introduced to allow a user to view the nest as the pieces are being placed and choose to stop the nesting process, saving the current result.

To hide this window, the “Configure” menu now has an option to “Show nesting window.” The default is on, but a user may deselect it to turn the view off.

CAD Relational Database Images and Marker Information The AccuNest server can now write directly into the CAD Relational Database, providing marker images and made marker information. Previously, this information was written only by the AccuMark Job Submission stations. To configure the location of the CAD Relational Database directly in the AccuNest Queue Submit interface, select SQL Configuration from the Configure menu. When the dialog opens, enter the SQL server instance name and the name of the CAD RDBMS. If you have SQL authentication in your environment, enter the SQL user and password for the connection. Windows Authentication is the default.

If the database has not yet been created, you will be prompted when selecting “Test” that the database does not exist or a connection cannot be made. Click OK to continue.

What’s New for AccuNest 10.1.0 New Ability to Save a Marker while Nesting

While nesting, a user can now view the nest as the pieces are being placed and choose to stop the nesting process, saving the current result. This is especially useful if time is limited and production is being held, pending the completion of the marker. To stop nesting and save the marker in its current nested state, select OK. Be sure to allow time for AccuMark to save the nested marker, the “Save Best Nest” step to complete. Cancel will stop nesting and the nested marker will not be saved. This feature is viewable on the AccuNest server, not the individual Queue Submission AccuMark systems.

Rule Based Marking An enhancement to Batch Processing allows users to have pieces placed prior to the marker being made by a manual marker maker, AccuNest, or AutoMark. A new field has been added to the Batch Parameter Table, “PreMarking Rule” that will apply piece placements in a new marker based on user created rules. The Rule Editor allows users to define piece placement to specific locations in the marker and even place pieces relative to other pieces. Set the location of the pre marking rules by setting the “Rule Directory” in the Batch File Menu. This will indicate the location of the rule files for the lookup in the Batch table.

An editor allows you to set up the rules to be applied prior to the marker being made. The source size is a drop down that allows you to set the rule to be performed beginning with the largest or smallest size of the piece. If Source Size is left blank, then the rule can be performed in any sequence on the sizes. For example, if you wish to place the fronts in the center of the marker, beginning with the largest size, select “Largest” from the drop down. If the marker contains pieces with size 6, 8 and 10, then the size 10 fronts would be placed first in the center, next the size 8, and finally the 6. Destination Size and Destination Category are used to set up rules that group pieces together or place pieces relative to other pieces. If placing pieces in a certain position in the marker, then these fields can be left blank. You can test the rules by creating a Batch Table with MED as the method, applying rule in the Batch Table, then viewing the marker in Easy Marking to see the results.

Page 21: What’s New for - Gerber Technology · new engine. Key Update for AccuNest 11.0.0 The current version of the AccuNest WIBU key is 6, but to run the new nesting engine in AccuMark

21

In the example below, after the fronts are placed at the bottom edge of the marker, the backs are to be placed above the fronts. Then the waistbands are placed along the top edge of the marker border.

If the piece category contains a space, then enclose the category name in quotation marks so the category is read correctly when applying the rule. The rules are performed on all pieces ordered for the marker, and if a rule entry specifies a category that does not exist, then the entry is ignored. For example, you may set up one Rule that contains entries for all pieces in the model, but the lining marker may not contain a pocket. That entry will be ignored when applied to that particular marker, but the pocket would be placed for the shell marker. An easy way to test rules is to apply them to an unplaced marker in Easy Marking, from the File menu. Be aware that the rules are applied to a marker as it was originally ordered, so any dynamics applied in marking, such as adding pieces/bundles are not recognized. Using the Pre Marking Rule in Easy Marking is a quick way to place pieces before a marker maker finishes the marker.

Settings used by AccuNest reported in the log file Double clicking the Nesting Job entry in the AccuNest Queue displays the log file for the nesting job. Information has been added to the log to record the number of cores used for nesting on AccuNest MC (Multi Core) as well as the rounded buffering settings for pieces and the buffering on the marker border.

An abbreviated version of this information also displays in the “Operation” column in the Queue, for example “RB” for Rounded Buffering or “CB” if rounded buffering is disabled and Classic Buffering is applied instead. The number of cores nesting displays as well, as a number preceding “C”

Shade Zone and Sectional Improvements The ability to define and assign sizes or bundles into a Shade Zone or a Section has been enhanced to provide even more user control. By default each size or bundle is assigned to a section, but you may re assign each. As the number of shade zones is entered, a new column will appear to allow the size of the zone to be defined as a percentage. The designation of “any” indicates a bundle or size can be placed in any shade zone. The column “any section” allows bundles or sizes to be designated that can be nested anywhere in the marker, not restricted to a particular section.

What’s New for AccuNest 10.0

Software Improvements require a New Key for this version.

AccuNest version 10.0 contains engine improvements that require a key exchange if updating from a previous release. The new AccuNest key is a silver WIBU CodeMeter security device.

Contact the Gerber service representative for your area to arrange the key exchange before updating to this AccuNest version. Install AccuNest 10.0 after receiving the replacement key. The key and license will be time limited and the time extended once the old AccuNest sentinel key has been returned to Gerber service. AccuMark queue submit systems can be upgraded independently of the AccuNest server. If AccuNest and AccuMark programs are installed on the same computer, both programs must be updated at the same time. Mixing versions of AccuNest and AccuMark, for example AccuNest 9.0 with AccuMark 10.0, on the same computer is not supported.

AccuMark Interface Key Update An AccuNest Server has two keys, the nesting engine key and an AccuMark Interface key. Updating to version 10.0 also requires an update to the AccuMark interface Sentinel Security key.

New Key Update Procedure If upgrading from a prior version of AccuNest, a new key will be sent when requested. The new key will be time limited to allow users to return the original AccuNest 9.0 or earlier version key. Once the older key has been returned to Gerber Technology, the new AccuNest key time will be extended. After the original key has been received by Gerber and the new key is in place, generate an update code for this new key to request the time extension. Use the “Check Nesting Key” utility. For Windows 7 systems, browse to Start>All Programs>Gerber Technology> AccuNest to “Check Nesting Key”

For Windows 8 systems, from the Start screen begin typing “Check Nesting Key” and the utility name will appear so it can be selected.

Apply Cost and Weight from Order

A new checkbox has been added to Job Options to allow the cost and weight originally entered in the marker order to be automatically applied and used when calculating the nested marker’s cost and weight values.

Folded Pieces Improvements have been made for tubular and book fold markers that contain pre placed folded pieces. If a marker has placed pieces that correctly are on the folded edge, AccuNest can finish nesting the marker. Be sure when using Bookfold, place the folded pieces along the top edge of the marker. NOTE: If pieces were improperly placed, for example intentionally overlapped or folded but not placed on a folded edge, storing the nested marker will fail.
