Pick the right foods and up your activity levels for a happy, healthy kid. An easy rule to remember is the 5210 Rule. This guideline stands for 5 servings of fruits and vegetables, 2 hours or less of recreational screen time, 1 hour of physical activity and 0 sweetened drinks. The guideline also suggests promoting good sleeping habits, learning how best to communicate and taking advantage of support resources. As the temperature is starting to moderate, families may feel tempted to crack a window to let in some fresh spring air. With over 4,500 children injured in the United States each year from falling from windows, it is important to open only windows that children are unable to reach.

Air Conditioning Season is almost here! It’s time to change your air filters. Stop by the office anytime to request an air filter. You do not need to submit a maintenance work order to get your filters. Wanting to get your backyard in tip top shape for the summer? Happy Earth Month! Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22 to promote clean living and demonstrate support for environmental protection. In honor of Earth Day, here are 6 ways to teach kids about saving energy and make learning about the environment fun! 1. Educate. Visit the library, local garden center or Earth Day celebration to learn about saving energy and

protecting the Earth. 2. Go electricity-free once a week. Create a fun adventure once a week and explain why you are going

electricity-free. Set aside a regular time of electricity-free entertainment, such as: family game night, go outside or attend a local fair or festival.

3. Go outside more. Take a hike, walk or bike ride together. Visit your local park or beach and let the kids experience nature and ecosystems first-hand.

4. Create an energy-efficient playroom and do energy-saving projects. Include the kids’ input. Use energy-saving lighting, curtains and furniture. Older children will have a fun and educating time designing and implementing energy-efficient strategies. Have them help you hang laundry and explain how this saves energy.

5. Participate in energy-saving efforts. 6. Turn saving energy into a game. Play “I Spy,” but look around for energy-saving or energy-wasting items. You

can play this game anywhere to keep entertained and to learn more energy-saving ways. Source: www.greenworld365.com
