WHAT IS PROTECTED CHILHOODS?

Did you know over 1,5 million children in the United States have a parent who is in prison. Have you ever thought about what it is like to grow a parent in prison? Do you think these will have long term negative effects on these children? Now think about the children of Texas death row prisoners.

To date Texas has killed over 500 prisoners and counting. What if each of these prisoners had one child? Then 500 children have lost a parent! What if each of these prisoners had two children? Then 1000 children will have had their parent taken off earth.

The question that the European Association for Human Rights ask is, How can we best serve the needs of these children and ensure that they receive the support they need to thrive under challenging circumstances?

This is why we created the project Protected Childhoods. The project consists of:

• Purchasing Christmas and birthday gifts for the child on behalf of the incarcerated parent;

• Organize visits between child and incarcerated parent;

• Support the mail correspondence between child and incarcerated parent,

• and supporting the child with participating in extracurricular activities like Karate classes or dance classes.

Please view some of the things we have did for one prisoner and his kid.

Please make a donation to help us further connect prisoners and their kids in Texas.

WHAT IS CARE PACKAGE FOR PRISONERS?

Prisoners on Texas death row are isolated every day for 22 hours a day five days a week in a small cage. The two other days they do not come out their cages at all. They do not work they do not have any way to support themselves.

When new prisoners come to death row they are sent to death row in Livingston Texas at Polunsky Unit. There they must face the isolation and the realization that they have been sentenced to death. Some, even have been innocent.

Making matters worse is the fact that these prisoners can not buy products from the prisons commissary for some time. When they first come it takes the prison officials about a month. Sometimes more to process a photo identification card for these new prisoners on Texas death row. We would like to help these prisoners upon arrival. Our association would like to help prisoners when they first arrive by:

• sending a Hygiene Pack from the Texas Prison E-commissary web site:

• We would also send the prisoner writing paper, envelopes and a pen to write their loved ones.

• We would also send the prisoner a small sum of money so that he would be able to buy the necessary postage to write his loved ones and get started on trying to get acclimated to being on death row.

Our goal for this project is to help the prisoners with getting started for the struggle that they may have ahead in the coming years. We would like to help every death row prisoner who first comes in this way and we ask for your donation to support this project.

DONATION PAGE

We know that there are numerous organizations around the world that support prisoners on death row. But none support the prisoners who first come to Texas death row and none focus on the kids of Texas death row prisoners. This is where we believe that we can make a difference in these prisoners lives. We are asking for you to please look within your congregation and see if they would be willing to donate to our association. Of if your church would be willing to make a considerable donation.

( Donations with on the European Union are Tax deductible according to the European Court of Justice in 2009. The case of Mr. Persches states that they are Tax deductible because of the free movement of capital.)
