What do researchers say about their experiences at UWE?
All these policies….
Do they make a difference to researchers?
Questions about these data
• How representative is the Careers in Research Online Survey (CROS)?
• What does it tell us about UWE researchers? • Are there things that the data doesn’t say? • Lots of different ways to look at the data so
have to select areas to focus on

Comments about career development
The training/career development I have had has been laughable. I have recently undertaken the PGC(HE) and like the balance this provides between teaching and research activity. I have undertaken research training but very few career development training events Sometimes very useful, but often of limited practical help

YesNo
Comments about discrimination
Internal candidate appointed to a lower salary point than an external candidate (for identical roles) Contract type (research versus academic) Not felt able to contribute to decision making Because of gender & personal circumstances
Comments about equality & diversity
I believe that UWE is committed to E&D reflected by the training I have done Not an issue of equality per se more of variability application by line managers Difficult to say as I have not witnessed or been affected
