Welcome to Vetek Chic On Wheels! This e-book will take you through my background, services, how I work, what you can expect from me and what I expect from my clients. I can‘t wait to meet you and your pet family! A brief History. Kim is a Certified Veterinary Technician who has been in the business for over 23 years. Unfortunately Kim is no longer accepting pet sitting clients. Kim continues to provide In-home pet nursing demonstrations for clients that have pets with on-going medical care. She offers demonstrations for nervous pet owners on how to safely and effectively administer insulin and subcutaneous fluids to their pets. Kim works in a veterinary clinic on Monday’s , Thursday’s and Friday’s from 7:15 am until 6:00 pm. She is available after work or on weekends for demonstrations or public speaking engagements.

Scheduling your appointment and Once I arrive

You will either be referred to me by your veterinarian or you have found me through the internet or word of mouth. You can contact me by cell phone: 602-359-3693 or email: [email protected]. Together we will schedule our session. Availability is evenings after 5:30 pm or Saturday and Sunday being flexible scheduling.

Once I arrive I will show you my Credentials including my Business License, Business Insurance, CVT License, Pet CPR and First Aid Instructor Certification and a copy of various continued education certificates in the veterinary field.

I will allow your pet to warm up to me by not making too much fuss at first. I want your pet to feel comfortable, not anxious so please do not think I am ignoring your pet if I don’t greet excitedly with some pets. Cats in particular like to come to a new guest in their home, rather than the guest approaching them. I’ve learned to read animal behavior through my many years as a veterinary technician and from the first moment I enter your home I am already reading your pet’s signals so I can approach appropriately.

• I will call or text you when I am on my way and give you an estimated time of arrival.

Medical assistance and Demonstrations

• My Medical Services provide pet parents who have pets that have been newly diagnosed with a medical condition that requires on-going home care. I work directly with area veterinarians and are referred to their clients to assist them in the comfort of their own home once it is no longer conceivable for the client to continue veterinary visits.

• Length of visits are between 2 and 3 hours for subcutaneous fluid administrations and approximately 1.5 hours for insulin demonstrations.

• I am NOT a Veterinarian, I am a Certified Veterinary Technician who works with the valley’s veterinarians by providing their clients assistance at home. If there is something I feel is “Out-of-the-scope of my training”, I will refer you back to your veterinarian. Mobile veterinarians are a good option for people who need assistance at home but have not yet seen a veterinarian. I am unable to see you if you have not seen a veterinarian first.

Most pet parents are apprehensive about providing subcutaneous fluids or injections to their pets on a daily basis but understand that it is essential to their pets longevity. Having exhausted bringing their pet into the clinic each day for the treatment has now made it near impossible to do so without un-needed stress to the pet as well as the pet parent. This is when I come into your home.

Medical continued…..

• I work by veterinarian referrals but if a pet parent finds me on the internet or word-of-mouth and has the veterinary prescribed supplies, informs the veterinarian about my services and they accept my assistance for you, then I am also able to assist them.

• I do NOT carry medical supplies! My demonstrations include a stethoscope, thermometer, exam gloves, bandage material, demo dogs/cats and other minor products. If you’ve requested me for a demonstration on Sc fluids or Insulin injections, you MUST have all the prescribed medical supplies such as insulin/syringes, fluids/needles, etc.

• I schedule our medical visits 1 hour to 1.5 hours PRIOR to your pet’s normal time of receiving the needed care. This allows us time to review your current situation, supplies, medications and routine.

What you receive:

• You will receive your scheduled time in a relaxed, in-home environment where you will learn to provide the needed care to your pet.

• Sc fluid demo’s will also receive a Power Point which is included in the cost of the demonstration. The power reviews slide- by- slide how to administer Sc Fluids, helpful, easy tips, methods and effective strategies.

• We will review your current routine and make changes as seen fit.

• We will discuss guidelines and actions to make the act easier and more effective, eliminating and fears or anxiousness you have.

• You will practice the arrangement and the administration from start to finish practicing on a stuffed animal or an orange before the actual injection.

• I will email you a record of our visit the following day as well as one to your veterinarian.

• I will follow up with you in one or two days after our visit to see how you are doing.

• You will receive un-ending phone support for as long as you need it.
