What the book of psalms is to devotional life , the book of

proverbs is to everyday life. A proverb is a short, wise, easy to

learn saying to impart God’s wisdom for living.

Dan 1:17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and

skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all

visions and dreams.

Dan 1:19 And the king communed with them; and among them all was

found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood

they before the king.

Pro 1:1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David,

Proverbs-masha l- means to rule in the sense of mental superiority. Its

not a collection of human wisdom , but of divine rules to govern our

conduct, in civil , religious and business life.

Deu 28:13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail;

and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that

thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I

command thee this day, to observe and to do them:

Pro 1:2 To know wisdom (chokmah-skilful wit in

There are 6 different words translated wisdom here in Proverbs

and it will benefit you to know the difference.

•Chokmah- skilful wit in mind word or act

•Binah-discernment and discrimination

•Leb- wise hearted understanding

•Ormah-shrewdness, prudence, Subtley

•Sakal-Good sense

•Sekel- insight

Pro 1:2 To know wisdom (skilful wit in mind word or

act) and Instruction (chasten, Discipline) ….

The Highest form of wisdom is to embrace God’s correction of our sinful nature.




Heb 12:5 And have you [completely] forgotten the divine word

of appeal and encouragement in which you are reasoned with

and addressed as sons? My son, do not think lightly or scorn to

submit to the correction and discipline of the Lord, nor lose

courage and give up and faint when you are reproved or

God’s Correction when submitted to means a right path and new Direction
