What did we choose to use in the beginning?• In the beginning we have decided that our film will be a studio film,

which has a high budget film, with a large targeting market, as studios are usually much bigger in size, so therefore will be able to gain lager supports from large corporations. And with this support, we are able to keep our film in a high standard. Our film will be vertically integrated, and this will allow us to have a higher control during the production, distribution and exhibition stages, and the film will benefit from the studio being vertically integrated as this secures the fact that this will be distributed.

• Our film will be a “Hollywood "like film, which therefore means that it has to be made from big studio companies as it would be a “big film”

• We have decided to use 20th century fox as our studio company mainly because it is vertically integrated, and this means that our film will be securely distributed. It also allows films with budgets of 30 to 200+ million being made. We think that our film will have a budget of over 50 million as we would like to film it with better cameras such as the 35mm film. If there is a required for co-productions, we will most likely to only choose production companies with experience in thriller films as we are targeting a mass audience. And also with a high budget we will be able to produce a more realistic verisimilitude with the boarding school environment as well as other settings and locations.

Production, Distribution and Exhibition• We have decided that our film should be produced by Fox, as the production

of out entire film will be requiring a high budget, and this can be provided by Fox.

• We have chosen Fox as our institution company because from this, we are able to benefit from the vertical integration of Fox, where, it will be distributed by fox, and this can ensure that our film will be released and will be able to reach our audience, the film has the genre of thriller which it clearly appeals to the American market, even though the film does carries a British identity we believe that Fox will be more suitable for our film since if we have chose working title, we might have a chance not to be funded by universal which leads to not able to produce the film. Our film provided definite British identity of upper class boarding school, and this stereotype appeals to the American market, and it is believed that a British production company such as working title will be more suitable for our film, where it is able to create a global appeal as well as maintaining the British identity. However, as our film is going to be a Hollywood film, I believe that Fox will be a better choice as a production company, other than that, as Working title is owned by Universal, this means that there will be a chance that Universal will choose not to fund our film.

• And with exhibition, our film will be exhibited in different cinemas, not only in US and UK screens, but also will be released internationally such as in Hong Kong and France. It will also be released in Video on Demand where more people will be able to reach it via the internet, and the release in Video on Demand will occur after the exhibitions of the film in both UK and US screens

Marketing Eighteen• For the marketing of Eighteen, both above the line and below the line

strategies will be used to promote the film. For above the line promotion, promotion videos, advertising posters will be made and will be paid to release to the potential audiences, such as releasing trailer videos through televisions, and having the film poster displayed on streets. As our target audience relies heavily on Web 2.0, so therefore I believe that below the line strategies should as well be used in order to reach our potential audiences, such as setting up Facebook pages, and twitter accounts, and as posts gets shared quickly with only one clicks through the web 2.0, the information of our film will be able to shared more quickly. Fox have affiliated companies which produces blue-ray discs, any by selling the film in discs, this will market our film through the cross media. The film will also marketed in Video on Demand as our target audience are digital natives, but we will not risk to release the film on the Video on Demand and in cinema as this will lead to a low box office sale.

AIDA Scale• Attention: as mentioned before, audience will be attracted

through above and below the line promotions by releasing posters and trailers to our potential audience through televisions and Web 2.0

• Interest: other than trailer videos, but different promotions videos will also be released through the Web 2.0 in order to gain interest of the audience, example would be like releasing original soundtracks of the film

• Desire: by releasing more promotion videos such as behind the scene videos as well as unreleased scenes, and also a second trailer can also help to attract out potential audience, and this will make them think that they are desire to the film

• Action: by releasing tie-in products such as original sound tracks in iTunes will and releasing DVD versions as well as Online version s of the film after the releasing of the movie will lead targeted audience to take action and purchase these items.

Comparing Gone girl and Eighteen• Both Gone girl and Eighteen has the genre of Crime Thriller,

and both crime involves female• Both films are high budget films, Gone girl has a budget of

61 million. For Eighteen, with a high budget we will be able to produce a more realistic verisimilitude with the boarding school environment as well as other settings and locations.

• Both above the line and below the line promotion was used for Gone girl’s film, by releasing advertising posters in public as well as releasing it through it’s Facebook page.

• A book version of the film was released as a tie-in product, which is not likely to happen to Eighteen.

• Gone girl has a certificate of 18 years old, while Eighteen has a certificate of 15 years old. I believe that the certification of our production sits in a perfect level as compared to Gone Girl
