Before we claim to be anything else, we are a Christian first and foremost.

Be a responsible Christian. My salvation is in my hands (Phil. 2:12-13;

Matt. 6:33). My sins are my own (Rom. 3:23). My relationship with God is up to me (Heb.

13:5). Teaching others the gospel is up to me

(Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 8:30).

Be a happy person. And why shouldn’t we be?

◦Our sins are forgiven.◦We are children of God.◦We have an intimate relationship with the

Creator.◦We have a home waiting for us in heaven.

We should want the world to see how wonderful it is to be a Christian.

Even when life is hard (Matt. 5:3-12).

Be persistent. Our goals and objectives are different from

those who are in the world. Our ultimate goal is to go to heaven (Phil.

3:13-14). This world is not our home. We must be confident: “Yes, I am going to

heaven!” Satan is our enemy and will make our life

hard (I Pet. 5:8).

Be a person of action. In the church, everyone is part of the

action. God has given us talents to use, so let’s

use them! Teach the gospel. Let your light shine (Matt. 5:16). Grow (II Pet. 1:5-7). We cannot sit on the sidelines and watch. We, as Christians, are a people of action.

Hear (Romans 1:16; 10:14,17) Believe (John 8:24; Mark 16:16; Hebrews

11:6) Repent (Acts 2:38; 3:19; 17:30) Confess (Romans 10:9-10; Matthew

10:32-33) Be baptized (Acts 2:38; 22:16; Mark

16:16) Live faithfully (Revelation 2:10; Matthew

6:33; Romans 12:1-2; I Corinthians 15:58)
