A major community development project that impacts on hundreds of thousands of lives

Economic Development Creating enterprises - sewing, baking, farms, establishing community work programmes in each community; Kwanda Klothing Fashion show

Social Development Support for OVCs - creating feeding schemes, getting families registered for grants, getting children to school - addressing HIV prevention, especially multiple concurrent partnerships, addressing alcohol abuse and alcohol related violence

Activity based learning, engaging participants in issues affecting their communities: HIV and Aids, OVCs, Alcohol abuse and poverty

What the Kwanda teams do?

Prevent new HIV infections

Organise HIV testing in their community. Support One Love Campaign. Launch PMTCT campaign

Support vulnerable children

Drive SNOC agenda - transform the local school into a place that not only educates but also helps protect vulnerable children - plant a food garden and create a feeding scheme to make sure every child in their community is eating properly

Improve incomes

Create new sewing, agriculture and building enterprises

Address violence and alcohol abuse

Build capacity to act against unsafe drinking and violence, ensure alcohol-free schools and safe places for children, Ensure shebeens and taverns stick to their licensing conditions and improve safety in and around taverns.
