Innovation is an invention, paired with a
process and a market

Entrepreneurship
Humans have a unique ability to imagine different futures and to turn
ideas into reality.
Innovation involves the generation and exploitation of ideas.
Turning a good idea into an innovation -
a good idea implemented - often requires hard work, careful thought
and a creative approach to implementation itself.
Orville and Wilbur Wright were outstanding innovators. Their achievement went far
beyond the complex challenge of powered flight. They knew that their idea not only had
enormous commercial potential. They also realised how aviation would change our lives.
Innovation is the process whereby ideas
for new (or improved) products,
processes, or services are developed
and commercialized in the
marketplace.
The process of innovation affects the
whole business – not just specific
products, services, or technologies.
Today innovation is about much more than new
products. It is about reinventing business
processes and building entirely new markets
that meet untapped customer needs. As the
Internet and globalization widen the pool of
new ideas, it’s about selecting and executing
the right ideas and bringing them to market in a
record time.
In the 1990s, innovation was about technology
and control of quality and cost. Today, it's about
taking corporate organizations built for
efficiency and rewiring them for creativity and
growth.
Scaling Fast or Die
Companies are “Getting Big Fast”
HP Decades
Google 10 years
Twitter 4 years
Facebook 2 years
Groupon 1 year
Scale or die?
For many companies, almost no barrier to entry for competitors (how many Groupon clones are there?)
Scale / adoption key factor in funding
Why is innovation important?
Innovation is important on a number of levels. It is important for nations and regions, for economic growth and it is
Important for firms for survival and growth.
Left brain: I am the left brain.
I am a scientist. A
mathematician. I love the
familiar. I categorize. I am
accurate. Linear. Analytical.
Strategic. I am practical. Always
in control. A master of words and
language. Realistic. I calculate
equations and play with
numbers. I am order.
I am logic.
I know exactly who I am.
Right brain: I am the right brain. I am creativity. A free
spirit. I am passion. Yearning. Sensuality. I am the sound of roaring laughter. I am taste. The feeling of sand beneath bare feat. I am movement.
Vivid colors. I am the urge to paint on an empty canvas. I
am boundless imagination. Art. Poetry. I sense. I feel. I
am everything I wanted to be.
Innovators’ Failure Pitching

2010 - 2012
Present your failure in 30 seconds
An adventure is defined as an exciting or unusual experience; it may also be a bold, usually risky undertaking, with an
uncertain outcome.
Fridtjof Nansen won international fame after reaching a record northern latitude of 86°14′ during his North Pole expedition of 1893–96.
Competition
The term is often used to refer to activities with some potential for physical danger, such
as skydiving, mountain climbing and or participating in extreme sports.
