Names and roles of people responsible for health and safety of the project.

Specific responsibilities of all persons involved with health or safety issues on the job. 

Arrangements for consultation, co-operationg and co-ordination of health and safety activities.

Work health and safety procedures for managing any health and safety incidents that occur.

Don’t forget there may be more than one PCBU (person conducting a business or undertatking) WHS Regulation.

Site Safety rules

Determine and identify all the site safety rules and how these will be communicated with workers

Safe work methods

Identify the management and co-ordinatiion of safe work methods.

Sign-off by workers to make sure they understand the SWMS.

Don’t forget to include sub-contractors’ SWMS.

Keep it simple and straightforward

Discuss the WHS with workers before work starts

Principal contractor must manage the process including reviews.

What to remember

Keep a copy of the WHS management plan until the project is completed.

If a notifiable incident occurs, keep the WHSMP for at least 2 years after the incident occurs. (We suggest keeping it for at least 5)
