IntroductionWe are a principal building contractor based in Darlington and work throughout the

North East of England.

Established in 1984, we have developed over the years to successfully deliver

increasingly challenging and rewarding projects that have strengthened our

reputation as a quality building contractor.

We strive to offer a best value and personal service to clients by understanding and

adhering to their requirements. Projects are completed on time and within budget

through efficient and effective project management.

Key to our success is our highly-skilled and loyal workforce. We encourage

promotion within our organisation and have continuous training procedures in place

to ensure that everyone has the correct skills to excel at their job.

Health and safety is of paramount importance within our business and all activities

are carefully planned and supported by safe methods of work.

We support sustainable construction and put into practice procedures and

techniques that enable us to carry out our activities with minimum disturbance to the

surrounding environment.

The aim of this brochure is to introduce our business and give an insight into

our values, what it is we do and to develop new working relationships with local

businesses.

QualityWe have developed a quality focused culture within the company that can be seen

in everything that we do, from procurement through to the contract completion. We

understand what our clients require and go the extra mile to ensure their satisfaction.

We strive to consistently deliver projects with zero defects and achieve this through

continuous improvement, the skill of our workforce and the support of our

supply chain.

Our commitment to delivering quality to our clients can be seen by looking at the

projects we have completed, the praise that we receive and the ensuing contracts

that our clients’ award.

Health and SafetyHealth and Safety is of utmost importance within our organisation. We ensure that

activities are completed in a safe manner and with a minimum of risk.

Wharton Construction’s management lead by example and set the standard and

targets that all employees adhere to.

Our site operatives have passed an external health and safety assessment and

receive regular training to ensure that they can complete tasks safely.

The EnvironmentThe way we manage waste, the materials we select and the activities that we

undertake all affect the environment.

We have developed a robust Environmental Management System to the standard of

ISO 14001 that ensures that we minimise our impact on the environment.

We are committed to WRAP (Waste Resources Action Plan) – We monitor the amount

of waste going to landfill and have targets and systems in place that enable us to

reduce the amount going to landfill year-on-year. We re-use our discarded materials

and where this is not possible we recycle.

Our primary waste partner utilises an innovative Mechanical Biological Treatment

Plant that further reduces the volume of waste that goes to landfill.Cross Lanes Eco Farm Shop, Barnard Castle
